Help! My oldest kid has a camping trip with his new Cub Scout troop coming up, we’ve never been camping before, and I have a just turned one year old toddler.
I know I need a tent, I’m planning on getting a 5/6 person tent (probably the Ozark trail one from Walmart, unless y’all would strongly recommend against it). My toddler cosleeps with me. I’ve been reading that we should really use a sleeping mat- but I’m wondering if a baby play mat would probably be okay? Specifically this Nuby floor mat? It’s got a carrying case and I’ve taken a few naps on it in his playpen, but obviously the ground outside and the floor inside are wildly different.
I’m sure there are probably some really great super expensive options out there- but if there is something that the three of us could sleep on for around $50 that would be ideal, since I still have to buy everything. If I have a sleeping mat do I really need a sleeping bag or would blankets suffice? It’s estimated to be lower to mid 60s at night when we go, and we are all pretty hot sleepers.
Also, any advice for a first time camper with kids would be greatly appreciated, I’m wildly anxious. Sorry, I know this rambled quite a bit, but please be nice.
