    1. I loved this series, as I got to relive our trip to Jordan and Egypt in October 2022. I absolutely agree about choosing hotels closer to the attractions. We stayed at the Movenpick right across the street from the Petra entrance, and the Marriott Mena House hotel in Giza, with views of the pyramids from our balcony. It was wonderful.
My husband and I giggled about your recommendation to take binoculars. My husband did, and instantly regretted it. His suitcase was confiscated at the Amman Airport at the beginning of our trip. Luckily we had a tour representative with us to smooth the way with the customs police, but it caused a long delay after an already delayed flight late at night. They finally did let us keep the binoculars, but we found out terrorists can use them for some nefarious reason. Then flying into Egypt, the same thing happened! This time, it caused a holdup for our whole tour group. We eventually made it through, but we ended up giving the binoculars to our archeologist to prevent further trouble.
You did a wonderful job with great info, and I agree with all of your recommendations. And I also agree that the Aswan Dam can be skipped.

    2. you're fantastic ambassadors for jordan & egypt and have really made me want to go! thank you for all the information 🙂

    3. I really like your vlogs but disagree when you compare the wars in the Middle East to crime in America. It is much more dangerous to travel near Israel and Gaza than to visit near crime ridden areas of the US.

    4. Thanks for posting the trip videos. I hope to visit Egypt one day. What rule of thumb would you suggest for tipping the tour guides? Did you tip the drivers? The folks who walked you through the airport? Thanks in advance!

    5. Thank you for all the amazing information! We’re doing the private guides and drivers too! We had been debating but you really showed us the reasons why this was best!

    6. What an informative video! I've watched your Egypt and Jordan series and was looking forward to this video where you shared your planning. We are hoping to visit Egypt and Jordan soon.

    7. We did a cruise from Cyprus to Alexandra a few years ago. Left Cyprus in the evening arr Egypt early morning coach picked us up saw all the sites Museum in Cairo. Pyramids Sphinx etc. Papyrus factory got some hand made to takev home. Brilliant guide told us all the history. Egypt is in North Africa. Have also seen Tunisa Morocco.

    8. Thank you for your Egypt videos. Its been my wires dream to visit so this has inspired us to start planning and go, using your experiences as a template. Excited to hear you are doing a Transpacific Cruise. Are you coming back Down Under?

    9. I have to say as a retired travel agent of 40 years that it is hard to compare the crime in America versus what is going on in the Middle East, it is so different.

    10. We were in Cairo and Luxor in February. It was our second trip. It is safe! We never had any issues. I agree that a private tour is the best way to go. There is so much to see. We used Egypt Best Vacations, Essam Ali. Had the best guides and drivers!!!!

    11. Hello Mike & Nancy loved your travel log of Egypt the Middle East is fascinating however always been a trouble spot I have been through the Suez Canal several time going to the UK when I worked for P&O the Suez crossed due to war and ships were rerouted via the Cape our world is a troubled place today we are lucky we can still travel Cheers to you both from Sydney

    12. Hi Nancy and Mike,
I really enjoyed your Jordan and Egypt series, plus your recap during your planning video.

I find it funny that you mention all the tipping that you had to do in Egypt. That must be what it’s like for Australian or UK visitors to the US, the shock they feel when they have to tip people for services rendered. I fall on a lot of cruise Youtubers and in their comments a lot of Australian or UK cruise passengers always make comments about how much tipping they have to do to the crew on cruise ships. A lot of them always complain that why don’t employers pay them a living wage than that would get rid of the tipping. I am Canadian and, yes we do have tipping here also but I don’t think to the extent of the US. I was shocked to find out in someone’s YouTube video that Service and then some US states are only paid $2.50 for a service wage and then they depend on the tips they get to round out their earnings. With the high cause of living now I think a living wage in America would be $20-$25 an hour. I believe Disney in Florida only pays their employees $7.25 an hour.

    13. Newbie here, your video came up on my research into visiting Egypt and Jordan next year. Loved the video. I subscribed because I definitely want to see more. Thank you for sharing.

    14. New subscriber here. We had a trip to Egypt & Jordan planned for 2022 but Covid disrupted that. Trying to plan for 2026 but having trouble convincing friends to go with us for the reasons you cited. We have a good guide for Cairo & Luxor but will at your recs for Jordan. Mid 70s husband & wife and we prefer small group or travel with friends. These days we try and also try and incorporate a repositioning cruise in one direction. Did you also go to Dubai on this trip? I noted r/t air from Cairo to Dubai isn’t bad.

    15. ❤Your thoughts on tour groups were so far off from what i experienced with a Road Scholar trip to Jordan and Egypt that I am hesitant to believe anything you suggest.
