    1. Overtourism is also bringing with it crime. I already don't feel like driving in a foreign country, so now I'll only consider renting a bike where necessary.

Even in Italy, criminals disguise themselves as police officers or Carabinieri, but defraud the elderly by demanding immediate payment. You can never be too careful.
Will the JRP increase further? Luckily, I booked everything through an agency in January. The constant price increases are becoming a bottomless pit.
Thanks as always for all the information and updates 😊

    2. I visited Japan in 2024 in August with my best friend (it was so hot and humid) and it was not so crowded (in areas not so advertised it was great but very crowded on some sites – bamboo forest, famous temples); we took buses between cities and we sent our big luggage between cities via specialized companies and the prices were ok for us (low income country here); we did not take the Bullet train, only a regular one and I have no regrets really, the views from the bus were nice . We enjoyed best the less touristy areas and quiet temples (for example we walked a bit on Takeshita street and as we were walking shoulder to shoulder with everybody I felt like suffocating and having a panic attack – so we went left on a side alley, saw a temple sign and went up there and it was so lovely, peace and quiet; I don't know how it is now compared to 2 years ago, as I was planning to go back and visit Japan in the next years but I hope I can still find less crowded gems; thank you for the updates ❤

    4. As usual great information Toshi-San. Just completed our 6th Trip to Sapporo and here is some information that may be useful to your viewers. First, as you always mention, registering your trip on Visit Japan Web is a must to save time at customs and immigration make the whole process easier. Secondly, although the use of credit cards has greatly increased, travelers should carry at least 30 to 40,000 yen as some restaurants and stores will not take credit cards or the credit card system was down in one case. So always have enough yen on you to be able to pay for your meal. 10,000 yen and up is not uncommon. Third, JR Rail does take credit cards for tickets, and the Sapporo Subways allow you to use your credit cards to tap and ride. Not sure about other subway systems. Putting a translate application on your mobile phone really helps along with learning some basic Japanese words. Thanks for all your advice.
