    2. In your list of essentials for travel insurance you recommend Safety Wing. Genki Traveler for $168 per month for a 64 year old with $1m of worldwide emergency medical coverage seems vastly better value with much less exclusions an caveats than Safety Wing. Have you considered Genki ?. Would love to know your thoughts on it.

    3. I will attest to this video even if its a repeat, trust me what he saying here is very good information, I lost my wallet in a taxi in Butaun, and I had a back up and all good afterwards

    4. Hello, Which two cellphone model numbers do you have/recommend? It seems your backup cellphone has your USA cell number (correct???), and the phone you carry has a local eSIM (correct???). My (only) cellphone in USA is a Samsung S26 Ultra (which I use as my camera) and has two phone numbers / services (AT&T / Verizon). So, I am shopping for a second cellphone (which I could also use as a camera and take good photos), for translation, and use an international eSIM in it. Thanks…

    5. I have a very similar system. Wallet and money belt on me, a sling bag, and a carryon bag, each with one credit card, one debit card, some cash, a photocopy of my passport, and a printout of my travel insurance policy.

My passport stays in a ziplock bag to keep it dry. Even moisture from sweat on a hot day can make the passport book in your shirt pocket start to warp.

    6. Hereโ€™s a tip for photogs or those carrying camera/video equipment: use your carryon to carry lensesโ€ฆ put your backup clothese around the lensesโ€ฆ i prefer using the zippered side if you have a two sided carryon. It also takes the weight off your shoulders!! And security wont break your lensesโ€ฆ bc they will want them out and scanned separately esp in the EU

    7. Heading to the Philippines at the end of the month for a long stay. Would Schwab Debit, Wise (no debit card just app) and Moreta Pay be enough until Iโ€™m able to open a GCash account?

    8. i always have at least a backup account with a second bank in case i have an issue with my main account while traveling. it really saved my butt in early 1999 when i was visiting my Swedish girlfriend at the time. i had only been in Stockholm for a few days and went to use an ATM and my debit card didn't work, but my backup card did, fortunately. Long story short, my main account bank had inactivated my debit card because they were issuing a new Y2K compliant one. Instead of issuing a new one and having the old one go inactive after i activated the new one, they decided to make my current one inactive, then sent me the new one about 3 weeks later… Let's just say i had a few choice words for my bank branch manager when i got back to the States…
