7 Surprising Slow Travel Cities in Europe Worth a Month or More

Thinking about where to spend your next slow travel month — or even where to settle for a season? In this video, I share 7 underrated cities in the European region that are perfect for long-term travelers, early retirees, and anyone dreaming of a slower, more immersive way to experience Europe.

I’ll cover what makes each destination a great fit for slow travel and give you an idea of what a fully furnished one-bedroom apartment near the city center costs — including Wi-Fi, kitchen, TV, and washing machine — during the shoulder season.

🏡 Prices range from around $900 per month in the most affordable city to $3,000 per month in the more expensive one, giving you a realistic sense of what slow travel living looks like across Europe.

    1. Great list, and your criteria are perfect for us. Curious if you think any of the locations offer enough days of winter sunshine to allow us to hang out, drink coffee, etc. in the morning??

    2. This is an excellent list f places for slow travellers. Thank you 🙏. We appreciate the detailed information you’ve provided that would help others make an informed decision.

    3. Hi just a quick REQUEST it would be nice to just pop up a simple map of each country/area so we kindof have an idea where it is in relation to all, like maybe one big map and you pop up each new town as you cover it?
Otherwise it feels like OMG not sure where is that…ALSO a tip to get cheaper short term rentals is look for 'new' listings…as the prices seem pretty high..

    4. Was Tbilisi safe as an American? Any issues? I have no idea, but it's near a few countries that seem to be not as safe…Russia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, etc.
Great videos. Love all of the information in them.

    5. Excellent video!! I love that you picked cities near major destination cities like Paris and London -While saving half in lodging and still having an excellent homebase to explore

    6. Great information. I’m glad I just found your channel. How do you find the running/ hiking/ biking groups in these places? Also, how much do you budget for bike rentals? My wife and I are starting our slow travel in January 2027 and this is on point with what we want to do. Thanks

    7. Another great video and so informative. We are very excited to spend a lot of time in Europe doing some of the shengan dance, when required . But sadly it will be late 2027 or 2028 most likely as we are on long wheel route through SEAsia/Oceania for many many months to go.
