Where to Stay On the Amalfi Coast? 4 Best Areas & Towns ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Trying to figure out where to stay on the Amalfi Coast? I’ll save you some time. Most people pick the wrong town, waste half their trip on overcrowded buses, and spend way more than they need to. This video fixes that ๐Ÿค

I break down the 4 best areas to stay on the Amalfi Coast – plus a couple of bonus towns that are worth considering too ๐Ÿ‘€

For each area I’ll tell you what it’s actually like to stay there, who it’s best suited for, and what the downside of the area is – because this is an honest travel channel and I always try not to sugarcoat things ๐Ÿค“

This is the “where to stay on the Amalfi Coast guide” I wish I’d had before my first trip to this part of Italy ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Btw, a pro-tip: don’t even consider renting a car and driving on the Amalfi Coast. Book a private transfer from Naples Airport instead, the roads on the Amalfi Coast are not suited for tourists ๐Ÿ˜… Here’s the service I recommend: https://destinationwellknown.com/link/naplestoamalfidriveryt

Here are my hotel recommendations for each area – in different price ranges ๐Ÿ‘‡

    1. A few of my top Amalfi Coast travel tips:

๐Ÿš˜ don't even consider renting a car and driving on the Amalfi Coast. Book a private transfer from Naples Airport instead – hereโ€™s the site I use to book myself: https://destinationwellknown.com/link/naplestoamalfidriveryt

    2. Hey hey ๐Ÿ˜Š nice video as usual! Just a few questions: Do you remember if the drive from Napoli/Sorrento to the coast is mostly straight or quite winding? Iโ€™d love to go with my parents there but my dad gets carsick on curvy roads. Also, you mentioned that you can reach lots of places by sea, so similar question, is it usually a smooth ride or can it get rough? He tends to get seasick as well. ๐Ÿ˜… thanks in advance!

    3. Your comments about Naples are spot on. With the exception of the museums, I would avoid Naples altogether — too frenetic & too dirty. Sorrento, on the other hand, is a real gem for all the reasons you mentioned.

    4. I recognise Atroni was the filming location of the Netflix series: RIPLEY. The series was filmed in black and white. Thanks to your introduction, now I can see how beautiful it is๐Ÿ˜. Southern Italy has always fascinated me๐Ÿคฉ. Is there any cruise ship docked in Naples or Sorrento? ๐Ÿค”

    5. Hi Kris, another amazing episode – totally love the hotel guide QR code for each location. Brilliant idea. You have THE greatest travel vlog in the social media sphere. Everyone should consult your episodes before booking their trips. Thank you for all that you do. Hope the family are all well. Puck. ๐Ÿ‘ โœŒ๏ธ

    6. We visited the Amalfi Coast last July for my birthday. It is absolutely breathtaking. We only spent a day with a tour and we were based in Rome. I can tell you, July is insanely hot!!! We had the most incredible pasta at Ristorante La Piazzetta in Amalfi I'm still dreaming of it. The stairs on the coast are no joke. Especially when it was so hot. Great video by the way. Now I want to come back asap ๐Ÿ˜€

    7. I agree. Just donโ€™t spend any time in Napoli/Naples.
Its absolutely not the same image you get from Amalfi or Venice or Rome or Florence etc.
Naples is a rough, dirty and kind of poor city where you donโ€™t want to be at night. Its really dangerous.
Especially the slums and outside the center

    8. Great video! Navigating the Amalfi coast is not always easy and youโ€™ve done such an awesome job! You made us want to go back! โ˜€๏ธ

    9. Yeah I agree with skipping Naples. I'm not sure what I'm missing about that city that others enjoy but there are far nicer places to spend your time in Italy.

    10. The Amalfi Coast looks so insanely beautiful. I wonder if I should visit in a 'weird' month like January just so see it without all the other travellers…

    12. Did a bicycle tour of the Amalfi coast two years ago. Yes, the views are fantastic, but the tourist blight disappointed. Positano was mobbed in mid-October, with visitors tramping through one cheesy trinket shop after another along crowded narrow streets.

    13. Hi Kris,

Impressive YouTube video on the Amalfi Coast! It truly is every travelerโ€™s dream destination. Very well presented, and in such a short time we got to experience beautiful glimpses of Positano, Amalfi, Atrani, Ravello, Maiori, Minori, Sorrento and Naples.

Not to forget the amazing pizza, drinks, and delicious food shown throughout the journey!

Looking forward to many more such incredible travel videos. All the best, mate! Visiting the Amalfi Coast is truly one of my dream travel destinationsย ๐Ÿ˜Š

    14. Great info! I like Sorrento for my first time to Italy clients who donโ€™t have the Amalfi budget. Totally agree about Naples. I stayed at a nice centrally located hotel last year for one night before boarding a cruise. The streets were littered with trash, super crowded and people shooting fireworks at 1am keeping us awake. It was ok for the one night but definitely donโ€™t recommend beyond that.

    15. Im planing to stay 2 days in sorrento and 2 in minori…what do you think? I was going to stay 2 days in napoli but seen this video made me want to stay 2 days in minori and 1 in napoli

    16. I stayed in Ravello at Villa Piedmonte. It was pretty decent. We had great views from our room. Next time I plan to stay closer to Amalfi(maybe Maiori)

    17. I love your honesty. It's refreshing to get the good with the bad. Tell it as it is.
I'm looking for some wear in the med that's safe and less touristy but still with a nice atmasfear with good food. Not turist restaurants. Flat and excusable.

    18. Just been to Amalfi coast and I would have stayed in Salerno or the neighbouring town called Vietri Sul Mare (itโ€™s Positano without the tourists and better food). Also, I disagree that Naples is not worth a stay if you look beyond the traffic and graffiti; it has the most beautiful churches, history and best food.

    19. I've been four times: but then again, I have relatives who live in Caserta and Salerno. Amalfi is one of the most beautiful parts of Italy, besides the lake district north of Milan and northwest of Verona. Seems though nowadays, that travelling is getting too expensive. Naples is worth a day visit, but don't forget Procida and Ischia, and in Caserta there is La Reggia, a castle that's even bigger than Versaille. Salerno is worth a visit at Christmas time with all the lights, and there's a walk along longomare. Vietri sul Mare has pottery and beautiful views of Salerno and the Amalfi Coast.

    20. We just returned 2 days ago, could not agree more – the only other thing to mention is that it's not cheap, it's London prices you pay through the nose for good views. The stairs are a killer in Positano – get fit before you go! Bus stops are at the top and down near the bottom for SITA. so not easy to access. So again lots of stairs, thank god it was only 20 degrees when we went, supposedly shoulder season, but ram-packed. We travelled from Pompeii, went straight to Capri for 3 days, then 2 days in Sorrento at the Grand Augusta, great central location, great breakfast, did a day visit to Positano ( hard work) and finally Naples, as we were flying from there. Wish we had not bothered with Naples, which was dirty and the opposite of where we had been
