Shimbashi Hoshino

Hoshino was the best kaiseki meal I have ever had (even surpassing Matsukawa, Kataori, Doujin). The seasoning is perfection and maybe a bit stronger than some of the extremely traditional places (even though this is very traditional itself). I wouldn’t even say this is the most exciting season for kaiseki in Japan but still everything was made so delicious. Many of the vegetables were the same ones I have been eating all week but he made them taste much better. The tempura, fish soup and rice courses were incredible. The rice is the best I have had and I had 4 bowls – probably could have done even more.
