Everyone was right! Not a creep in sight, and beautiful views. My boyfriend and I had an amazing time, nobody tried to murder me, I didn’t get eaten by bears, and black coffee at 6 am has never tasted better. I’m officially addicted, and will probably be hounding him to go back as frequently as possible. I’m glad I was with him, because he knew what he was doing and was very gentle with my learning curve. Thank you everyone for all the advice, we had fun reading through the comments together and gathering all the tips. It was an amazing weekend, truly better than most beach vacations I’ve been; not shitting on those—they’re still fun, but everything just felt so peaceful and right. Can’t wait for my next trip.

Yay! congrats on not dying – mission accomplished
Would you mind linking to your previous post?
My favorite thing about camping is black coffee in the am! I usually drink it with sweetener and cream but it is actually more tasty black when in the outdoors. Its a known fact.
You did it! It sounds like you had a way better time than I did on my first trip, but I kept going! Glad you had fun!
1. Where was this campsite?!?! This is fantastic!
2. I love your pibble. What a cutie.
Welcome to our wonderful world!
Welcome. Backcountry camps are really awesome. Even just walk-ins are nice, as most a more spread out from neighboring campsites. Also MUCH less likely to have drunken loud a-holes.
Terrific! Drive safely…
I’ve been camping for years and only found one creep, and even he was a fairly respectful creep. Like, he trauma dumped at me and asked if we could hook up but he also listened to my no and I didn’t feel like I was in danger. I’ve met way more creeps in the city.
I think people overestimate the danger of creeps in the wilderness because of the added fear of being *alone* with a creep. There are more creeps in the city but being in the city gives people a sense of safety because there are also plenty of not creeps around. So you’re much less likely to run into a creep in the wilderness but if you do you might be outnumbered in a way you typically aren’t in the city.
Congrats, sounds like u officially unlocked the camping addiction lol
Heck yeah!
Is that Loft Mountain campground in Shenandoah?
