      ……………..You want to be disregarded at restaurants/bars, and get the worst service ?
      ……………..You want to have NEIGHBORS that will make your life HELL…???
      ……………..Well…If you answer yes to all these…then YES…move to those countries…!………………….* *

    2. These videos about moving to France – or Spain – Western Europe, prove one thing: their authors have no clue about the socio-economical and geopolitical situation of these countries

    3. I clicked on this video already knowing that France is the better option for me (although both countries are in my top 5 list for relocation). I'm not an outdoorsy or outgoing person, and I can't stand temperatures above 70 F, so Spain would only be a vacation spot. One thing you didn't mention is education opportunities, whether it be university programs or language schools, as those are important to me. The healthcare system is of course a big plus, since here in the USA it is mostly tied to your work, and they charge ridiculous fees for even just a simple checkup.

    4. If I ever left México, I would consider living in France, in a rural area or small town. I've enjoyed many road trips driving through France, eating good food, and drinking good wine. Life outside Paris is very appealing to me, where I have found people to very down to earth and nice. I've traveled through Spain, Germany and Italy as well, but I prefer the French people and their way of life.

    5. Bonjour, we sold up in Tampa, Florida, moving to Perpignan France 🇫🇷 without ever visiting. We have been here since April 1st and have made the best choice ever. We have found our forever home on the Têt River, a ten minute walk to the old Town. We absolutely love it here, and drove down to Spain for the day. The drive was as beautiful as the Chapman's Peak drive in Cape Town. We are excited to explore France and all of Europe from here. HAPPY RETIREMENT ahead.

    6. You forgot to mention the extremely cheap and variable options for complete private medical insurance in Spain. For 50-100 euros a month you can have a spectacular private plan with almost no waiting times.

    7. Hi! I am French Canadian and will never move to France, I do not like the French Culture, yes they can be friendly in front of You, but they will backstab You, when You are just leaving, this is French Culture and the French are just like an old grapefruit, the outside it looks nice, but inside in their souls, it is all narcissism. I would prefer the Germans and Switzerland and those kinds of countries, because when they talk or shares their opinions, we know how we stand with them and know what they mean. Furthermore, I would move to Austria before France. Spain would be in basket also, but the politics there is not very good, and the legal system is control by feminists, so they are anti-men and boys. Take care and God Bless. On many videos from real people not AI, they said that Austria is a very good country for the Retirees, because They care about the Elderly, and They Respect them and Vienna is always at the top of the best cities of the world, with Singapore and over here in Canada, it is Kingston Ontario or Québec City, yes it is French, but talking about safety and services, it is very solid, from where I live from Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada, it three hours away and can attest to that. Love You all, and please be careful everywhere and do not rely on politics to protect You, but a very strong community to heal and help each other is very important. God give You His Beatitudes and Health and Courage and Love and Perseverance.

    8. One thing this comparison almost never includes: what about the cats? For anyone moving with pets, France vs Spain is actually a meaningful difference in terms of the vet cert process. Both use the EU pet passport system if you're coming from within Europe, but for non-EU arrivals (US, UK, Canada), France tends to be stricter on AHC endorsement timelines at the border.

      Spain is slightly more forgiving on the paperwork checks in practice, though the legal requirements are identical. Also vet costs for expat cats in Spain are noticeably lower than France — something that adds up fast if you've got multiple animals 🐱

    9. I enjoy my visits to Spain and the border is less than one hour from my house in the Corbières. While I have no doubt that I could have been happy in Spain, France has proven to be a perfect fit for me. Prioritize and you are well on your way, The more you learn about your intended choice, the better prepared you will be. La Belle France, my home since 2007. Kristen's advice is spot on. Bonne chance mes amis. 😊

    10. Determining the exact number of American expats can be tricky because the U.S. government doesn't formally track citizens living abroad. However, based on data from the Association of Americans Resident Overseas (AARO) and recent 2024–2026 demographic estimates, these five countries consistently host the largest populations of U.S. citizens.
      ### *1. Mexico*
      * *Estimated Population:* ~1.2 million
      * *Why it's #1:* Proximity to the U.S. is a major factor, but the low cost of living and established expat communities in places like San Miguel de Allende and Lake Chapala make it the top choice for retirees and remote workers alike.
      ### *2. Canada*
      * *Estimated Population:* ~1 million
      * *Why it's #2:* Beyond the shared border, Canada offers a familiar culture and language, high quality of life, and a straightforward immigration path for skilled workers. It is often the first choice for families and professionals.
      ### *3. United Kingdom*
      * *Estimated Population:* ~240,000 to 340,000
      * *Why it's #3:* The UK is the primary European hub for U.S. expats. The lack of a language barrier and the concentration of finance and tech jobs in London make it a natural fit for corporate transfers and students.
      ### *4. Germany*
      * *Estimated Population:* ~150,000 to 240,000
      * *Why it's #4:* Germany attracts a high volume of U.S. citizens due to its robust economy, particularly in the engineering and tech sectors. It also hosts a significant number of U.S. military personnel and their families who transition into civilian expat life.
      ### *5. Israel*
      * *Estimated Population:* ~160,000 to 280,000
      * *Why it's #5:* While other countries like Australia and France are close contenders, Israel consistently ranks in the top five due to the "Law of Return," which facilitates immigration for Jewish Americans, leading to a high rate of permanent relocation.
      ### *Quick Stats Comparison*
      | Country | Primary Appeal | Common Expat Cities |
      |—|—|—|
      | *Mexico* | Affordability & Climate | Mexico City, Mérida, Ajijic |
      | *Canada* | Social Safety Net & Proximity | Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal |
      | *United Kingdom* | Career & Culture | London, Edinburgh, Manchester |
      | *Germany* | Job Market & Central Europe | Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt |
      | *Israel* | Religious/Ancestral Ties | Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa |
      > *Note:* These rankings focus on population size*. If you look at "best" countries based on *happiness or ease of settling in*, countries like **Panama* and *Portugal* often jump to the top of the list, even though their total number of Americans is smaller.

    11. A mediados de 2024, más de 69.000 estadounidenses estaban registrados viviendo en España, experimentando un crecimiento de casi el 50% desde 2018. Muchos son profesionales que teletrabajan o familias atraídas por la calidad de vida, seguridad y el clima, concentrándose en zonas como Madrid, Cataluña y áreas de costa.

      Tendencia al alza: La comunidad ha crecido cerca de un 60% en el último año, consolidándose como un grupo creciente de residentes extranjeros.

      Motivaciones: Buscan una mejor calidad de vida y, en algunos casos, migran por motivos políticos.

      Visados: El aumento se ha visto impulsado por opciones como el visado de nómada digital.

      Distribución: Aunque están repartidos, Cataluña concentra una parte importante, con unos 11.000 residentes.

      Estos datos indican que España se ha consolidado como un destino popular para los ciudadanos de EE. UU. en Europa.

    12. am researching deeply for more than 2 yeears already, thought about malta, cypris, italy, southern america ,living in aisa right now.i considerd everything, heatlhcare, taxes, climate language, fod, culture, burocracy, government, educaton,safety …a.s.o. and after 2 years of intense research there only remains one clear winner : spain !

    13. Thank you, i’m really considering Mediterranean spain and southern france. It’s been a plan for a decade as I approached retirement. The current ridiculous political climate in the usa makes me happy i made this choice to relocate. Learning a new language is real trial for most older people.

    14. You should not forget to mention that France has the best tax treaty with the US among all European countries. Your US based income from SS, IRA , 401 or Pension will not be taxed by France. Also almost no wealth tax except for million dollar foreign homes. Taxation wise France has no competition.
