ITALIAN FOOD in TROPEA – Pizza & Calabrian Grilled Meat

Italian Pizza, Calabrian grilled meat, pecorino and ‘nduja, local bakery, creamy gelato, and unforgettable flavours in one of Calabria’s most beautiful seaside towns.

    *Da Ribaudo*
We start at Da Ribaudo, a contemporary pizzeria located in the heart of Tropea. The atmosphere is modern, and the pizzas combine classic Neapolitan style with a unique Calabrian twist. Light dough, quality ingredients, and creative toppings make this pizza place stand out in Tropea.
*Bar Pasticceria Rosticceria Peccati di Gola*
The next morning starts at Bar Pasticceria Rosticceria Peccati di Gola, where locals gather for their morning espresso and fresh pastries. The selection of sweets is enormous, everything is freshly made, and every bite feels like pure Italian breakfast perfection. One of the best morning experiences in Tropea.
*Go’duja – Il piacere di gustare la ’nduja*
For late lunch, I visit Go’dUja – Il piacere di gustare la ’nduja, a small family-run spot serving some of Calabria’s best local products. Platters and sandwiches are filled with incredible regional ingredients like spicy ’nduja, pecorino cheese, local salami, and more. Every bite is packed with strong, authentic Calabrian flavour.
    *Donna Maria Gelateria Artigianale*
After this, it’s time for gelato at Donna Maria Gelateria Artigianale. This cosy gelateria serves some of the best Italian gelato I’ve ever tried. Creamy texture, rich flavour, and beautifully presented ice cream make this stop unforgettable for every dessert lover visiting Tropea.
    *Pizzeria Trattoria Fra le Nuvole*
We finish this food adventure with a hike into the mountains above Tropea, searching for one final unforgettable meal at Pizzeria Trattoria Fra le Nuvole. Here I enjoy a Calabrian-style mixed meat grill with locally sourced meats cooked perfectly over fire. But the real surprise is the pizza. Pizza maestro Enzo works the wood-fired oven, creating incredible Neapolitan-style pizzas with unique dough, premium toppings, and unforgettable flavour combinations. A perfect ending to 48 hours of eating in Tropea.

    2. I appreciate you sharing the food and sights of Calabria. My Great Grandparents came from Cleto, Calabria. Keep up the amazing work!!! Safe Travels!!!

    3. After watching this video, we kind of want to do a tour in southern Italy now! Including for sure Tropea and we’ll see what else! The pizza napoletana and the pastries looked amazing 😍

    4. Thank you for this down to earth review of Tropea. The restaurant at the end looked really nice, the prices were fair and the food looked delicious.
I hope you got some open-air gym exercise after the meal. ❤ You looked very excited to try it while climbing to the restaurant. 😂

    5. Just watched this twice because one of us was in the kitchen cooking. Wow. Beautiful city, amazing views. Wonderful food offerings and friendly people. It would be hard for me to choose just one or two pastries in the bakery. I want to try them all. You certainly got your exercise, Alex.

    6. Tropea is breathtaking, the bakeries and gelatoria’s are so good, I love pistachio gelato it’s the best. Haha you were puffed out burning off some calories.

    7. Northern Italians tell u that Calabria is a terrible region to live in and that terrible things happen in there but all I've seen is lovely.

    9. I was here last when I was 19 in 2001, having been born there in 1982!! There's a small town on the cliff called Zaccanopoli where my dad's sides from. It's interesting because what if we'd stayed in 1983, not perfect but what is?? But it's another life we left behind in 1983, pre social media!! To be honest my parents my dad mostly identify with the area heavily!! I'm the senior of 5 kids and none of us really connect to Calabria!! Add in a lot of horrid family history we are still in!! The story I heard from my mom n Gramma is that I was in poor health as a baby there!! My mom was very depressed living there actually!! She was a free spirit hippie kinda!! Calabria is not an easy adjustment for women!!
But that's also culture and old school very much!! Alongside this local food that's legit and wine!! The Seafood!! Frito Misti!! Gelato!! One million liquors from Europe to try on an evening passage!!

    10. Tropea is the big town and port but there's bunch of little lordly towns!! It's like the Amalfi area but minus as many tourists!! A lot goes under the radar!! Like how everybody knows Cosa Nostra and Comora after that?? Calabria has Nandranggehtta lol spelled funny like that!!

    11. Brilliant again Alex , thank you for sharing and uploading . All of the food looked incredible , the 4k climb up to the restaurant was worth it , yes ?👍

    12. The sound on the videos is much better, love you go with your family, also really good you blur out other people's faces..that's very respectful!👍
