    1. Japan has a new law since 2023 to combat sneaky passengers trying to record other pax and crews too intimately without permission, which is why you got busted earlier. According to the new law and the illustration they made, photos of your seat, meal, IFE, window, and photos of you with the crews are 100% OK; photos and videos of other passengers and crews while they're doing their job serving passengers, are a no-go.

I thank God the purser was specific about what she was concerned with instead of placing a blanket "no filming" warning.

Got that same warning on ANA via the IFE, but on my 4 ANA flights, they were encouraging (maybe because the crews were younger and ANA utilizes their crews more for social media purposes?) They even encouraged more photos & videos and helped me with some tips & ideas (do check my 2 ANA trip reports; 2 more coming in February). Usually JAL is more hardcore than ANA in this regard. That is why I usually keep my camera low and a bit sideways to avoid filming others. ANA's boarding process helped me, though, because window seat = group 3, so I have a relatively empty cabin to take videos of.

But yeah, JAL's 787-9 wins over ANA. Man, I wish ANA did not ditch 2-4-2 back then…they would've made JAL uncomfortable. But at least I was served 4 (yes, 4) meals on the same sector.

      Nice vid as always!
