a few buddies and myself decided to finally check out the alabama hills area after months of talking about it and it was absolutely worth the 4 hour drive. i finally upgraded to a better 2 person tent (mountain hardwear mineral king 2) and this was the perfect place to test it out. we left orange county at 3:30 AM to make sure we got a spot and landed one without any issue! the weather was great as well (a bit windy at night) and as about as quiet it can get. the stargazing is a 10/10 – you can even spot satellites passing by. another huge plus was getting to wake up to an amazing view of MT. whitney. i plan on going back again.
