I spent 3 days in Alsace (North East France) without a car.

Very picturesque towns and villages. The vibe was amazing.
People were friendly and the food was really good as well.
We visited Strasbourg then we took the train to Colmar (around 30 mns).
Around Colmar they are many beautiful villages : Riquewihr, Kayserberg, Ribeauville… We took the bus to visit all of them. They surrounded by vineyards.
    The weather was amazing too.

    Riquewihr : 1 to 6
    Kayserberg : 7 to 9
    Colmar : 10 to 16
    Strasbourg : 17 to 20

    1. Lovely pictures.

It is my favourite wine region. I spent two hours in Strasbourg a few weeks ago on the way home from Europa Park. Would love to do a proper trip there soon.

    2. Was this over the holiday weekend that we just had by any chance? That would explain the blazing sunshine and rather busy looking streets.

How was the level of tourism there? Did it get rammed with tourists? Or was it pretty chill?

    4. I’m more surprised how seemingly well-preserved everything is given the conflict between France and Germany over this area.

Did you know Colmar served as inspiration for Ghibli’s movie Howl’s Moving Castle?

Where do you come from? I’m always amazed by people visiting this region from far away. I live like 2-3 hours away from it but never took the time to properly visit it, I know I should

    8. Which bus– public ones?– and how was your experience? Planning to visit this in a few weeks without a rental car, staying in Colmar.

    9. Nice pictures. I was there during Christmas market season 2024. Strasbourg, Colmar and the surrounding villages have a cute vibe.

      PS: It’s Southeast France.
