Messina to Taormina Day Trip 🇮🇹 Exploring Sicily from Our Cruise Port

Sicily cruise port adventure in Messina/Taormina 🇮🇹

During our Mediterranean cruise on the Sun Princess, we docked in Messina and decided to do our own DIY shore excursion to Taormina using the Trenitalia train from Messina Centrale to Taormina-Giardini 🚂

After arriving, we took the local bus up the mountain for only €2 and spent the day exploring some of the most beautiful spots in Sicily… from the peaceful gardens at Villa Comunale di Taormina to the stunning views at Belvedere di Taormina and walking through the charming streets of Corso Umberto 🌄

We also stopped for an amazing Italian lunch at Osteria da Rita dal 1991 🍝 before heading back to the ship. To end the day, we enjoyed dinner onboard and watched a fun magic show at night onboard the Sun Princess ✨
