Thessaloniki: The Most Lively Pentecost Night in Greece – 4K Walking Tour

In this walking tour, we visit Thessaloniki, Greece on Pentecost night – one of the biggest Greek Orthodox holidays of the year. Fifty days after Easter, and the whole city is out to celebrate.

The walk starts at the seafront promenade near Aristotelous Square, where a live basketball event is running in the middle of the square on the holiday. From there: Aristotelous Boulevard, the Horseshoe at the upper end, Tsimiski Street, the White Tower, and the sea promenade at full capacity – restaurants packed, street performers out, the entire waterfront alive.

Thessaloniki is where Cyril and Methodius were born – the creators of the Cyrillic alphabet, now used by hundreds of millions of people. Atatürk was also born here. The White Tower has stood at the water’s edge for 600 years. The city has more UNESCO-listed Byzantine monuments than anywhere else in the world.
