    1. Germans don't really like proactive service personal, so I guess it's pretty common for them to be a little less active on domestic flights.

    2. Until 1970, there wasn't just the train line connecting Sylt to the mainland, but another line across the island from the north to the south, the "Sylter Inselbahn". So back then, there would have been other stations even further north on the island.

    3. Now officials trend to rename it Sylt Damm instead of Hindenburgdamm, because Hindenburg, president of the German Reich, made Hitler chancellor of Germany those days. Ves of course, both of them were elected, but…

    4. Useless knowledge (since also a taxi ride had been involved from Westerland airport to accomodation):
Have only been to Sylt once. When taking a taxi to get around with a friend with mobility issues, the driver told us that some people who arrive at Westerland airport with their private (or shared) jets book his taxi for the transfer from the parking position of the plane to their house or hotel so they don't have to use the "communal" facilities of the airport with the average rich people.
For this stunt, his taxi has to be searched and registered to be allowed INSIDE the airport's premises and gets a follow-me car to guide him to the plane's parking position and back. This service was some €400 or 500 altogether (airport fees, security fees, his own taxi surcharges etc.) – for a distance of 200-300 meters back and forth.

    5. Slight correction: Sylt can also be reached by ferry.
It runs between List(D) and Horneby(DK).
      But – it´s insane to fly DUS-MUC-GWT.
There are non-stop flights DUS-GWT as well (and from a few German regional airports – e.g. from Mannheim/MHG/Do328)…
But I guess you wanted to get the most out of the miles spent😉

    6. Why would you take the detour to munich ? That made no sense. Eurowings flies throughout the year there from Düsseldorf….
uhm, I take the train from home- hamburg-sylt LOL
