Join us for an international cab-view journey from Lille-Flandres in northern France to Bruxelles-Midi / Brussel-Zuid, Belgium’s busiest railway station. Filmed entirely from the driver’s cab with natural sound only, this video offers a front-row seat on one of the historic railway corridors linking the two neighbouring countries.
Departing from Lille, one of France’s most important railway hubs, the train heads north across the Franco-Belgian border, passing through the industrial and agricultural landscapes of French Flanders and Wallonia. Entering Belgium, the route continues through Froyennes and the historic city of Tournai, one of the country’s oldest railway hubs.
The journey then follows Belgium’s important Line 94, passing through Leuze, Ath, Silly and Enghien/Edingen. This double-track electrified main line is one of the key rail corridors between Brussels and western Belgium, carrying a mix of international, intercity, regional and freight traffic.
This cross-border route has its origins in the early days of European railways, when the first international connections between France and Belgium helped transform travel and commerce across the continent. Today, the line remains an important link for regional, national and international passenger services, connecting communities on both sides of the border while feeding into Belgium’s dense railway network.
As the journey approaches Brussels, traffic becomes increasingly busy, with passenger trains, freight services and suburban operations sharing the tracks. The approach to Bruxelles-Midi / Brussel-Zuid showcases the complexity of one of Europe’s major railway hubs, serving domestic Belgian services as well as well as international services to France, the Netherlands, Germany and beyond.
From urban railways and historic stations to busy main lines and international border crossings, this journey provides a unique perspective on everyday railway operations between two neighbouring countries at the heart of Europe.

It's not just the high speed lines, several lines in the South East towards Luxemburg are being rebuilt to 25kV as we speak. Also, ETCS is no longer rare. Luxemburg has completed the transition, Switzerland is almost there and Denmark is halfway there. The UK is making big steps too. I'm not certain about other countries but I think at least in Spain ETCS is mostly used on HSR. It's very patchy in other countries.
And technically, Belgium isn't even done yet according to InfraBel's own documentation.
at 1:17:05 those are M5 coaches, made by Bombardier. You can see the difference between M5 and M6/M7 at the upper floor windows. M6/M7 cars have bended windows towards the bottom, M5 is straight 😉

It's nice that they've bought a whole bunch of Desiro's and modern double-decker stuff, but it's also strange how they still have so much older rolling stock from the 70's and 80's in service. Sure, we still have ICM here, but they're been heavily modernized.
