Brühl’s Terrace, affectionately nicknamed the “Balcony of Europe” (Balkon Europas), is a historic architectural ensemble in Dresden, Germany. Stretching along the banks of the Elbe River, this elevated promenade offers some of the most beautiful and iconic panoramic views of the city’s riverfront and its striking Baroque skyline.

Originally built as part of Dresden’s city fortifications in the 16th century, the site was transformed in the mid-18th century. Count Heinrich von Brühl, the Prime Minister to Elector Augustus III, turned the ramparts into a lavish private pleasure garden complete with palaces, a gallery, and a library. By 1814, the terrace was opened to the public, featuring a grand monumental staircase that invites visitors up from the castle square.
