This is the most detailed Scotland video I've watched, but I have one burning question — how did you actually film that 4AM Edinburgh sequence? You mentioned parking was a crisis when you arrived, so my guess is you barely slept and just went straight out with the camera. Also, what camera/lens setup are you using for those low-light morning shots? The Dean Village footage at golden hour looked impossibly crisp. Would genuinely watch a behind-the-scenes breakdown of how you filmed this whole road trip.
Bro, watching this brought back every single moment. I still can't believe we actually climbed Old Man of Storr in that wind. my legs were shaking for two days after! But honestly, the moment that still lives in my head isn't the big stuff… it's that random coffee stop in Kingussie when the town felt completely abandoned. That eerie silence was more memorable than most of the tourist spots. Also, you conveniently left out the part where I had to translate your drone panic at Duck Bay 😂

FINALLY someone who actually lists every single cost. I've watched maybe 15 Scotland road trip videos and nobody breaks it down like this. Most people just say 'Scotland is expensive' and move on. The fact that you included Tesco runs, parking fees, and even those 6€ ferry coffees makes this infinitely more useful than the generic guides. One thing I wish you'd added: how much did you budget for fuel total? I noticed the 80€ fill-up in Portree but didn't catch the other fuel stops. Also — would you do the rental car again or try public transport + day tours next time? That 550€ car rental is no joke.
Another great video. Not a criticism but just to let you know (and you couldn't have known beforehand since it is counter intuitive – Cockburn Street in Edinburgh is pronounced Coburn Street. Cockburn is a Scottish surname and the "ck" is silent.
I'm going to be honest! I think you were too harsh on Glenfinnan. I get that the train being canceled was disappointing, but calling it 'hollow without the steam and the whistle' feels a bit unfair to the viaduct itself. I've been there three times, once without the train, and the structure alone that curving stone archway cutting through the valley, is absolutely worth the stop even without the Jacobite. Also, Mallaig isn't a 'ghost town,' it's a working fishing port with some of the best seafood in the Highlands. I feel like your Skye expectations were so sky-high (pun intended) that nothing before it got a fair shot. That said… your Skye section was the most honest depiction of that island I've ever seen on YouTube. Nobody prepares you for the wind.
The other easy journey that most tourists haven't discovered yet is the spectacular 4 hour A83,drive (Glasgow-Loch Lomond-Tarbert-Campbeltown).
