Crossing France by bike against all odds
In this video, I take you across the entire country of France by bike! From Roscoff to Hendaye. Ride with us. Like you were there!
This time it’s Eric enjoys Earth in France! We’re riding the Vélodyssée, which is part of EuroVélo 1. Over 28 travel tips will be shared.
Just us, my girlfriend and I, our loaded bikes, and the road ahead. I’ll be commentating and explaining everything. We start at the English Channel coast, where the water is cold and the sky changes every 5 minutes. And we head south! Watch all the scenery shift. Brittany with its hills, castles, canals, the ocean reappearing, the Landes forest… all the way to the palm trees of Spain.
This is real bike camping! The kind where you carry everything on your bike. The kind where you live in slow motion. The kind where you see France roll by, one street, one castle, one baguette at a time. The kind where it rains, where you get flat tires, and where you still laugh.
Sit back. Travel from home.
You’ll feel the wind on your face, hear the tires on the road, and cross France like no one sees it from a car.
Along the way, we’ll also talk about what we’re passing: cultural info, little bits of knowledge we pick up on the road, and bike travel tips for cyclists and other travelers.

It is not something I would do myself but I was very happy to tag along with you. Sorry that you had so much rain 😢 I built a fold sofa bed for my HiAce from watching and rewatching your video on how to make it. I should take a photo of it and post it here for you sometime. We've done a lot of van camping, mostly through Canada on the backroads and loved it (except the areas with intense mosquitos). Did you have any problems with them in France?

Funny for a French to see how North Americans looks at old buildings. Yes we have 500 or 1000 years old buildings everywhere. Even a few older than Jesus =) For us that is just normal. Buildings are built to last. Many buildings in Europe are way older than the country they are in. It is still super common to live in a house more than one or two hundreds year old.
Tylanol is the most common medicine you will find in absolutely every single pharmacy. It is just called Paracetamol in France (generic molecule name) and Acetaminophene or something similar in other European countries. You will find it as a generic or under different brand names, it is all the same and costs roughly 2€. Small tip : when you go to a foreign country : find the name of the meds you are taking in the local language(s), and check that it is an over the counter medicine in this country. If it is not an over the counter drug: bring your medical prescription with you.
