Exploring Dresden, Germany With the Bazan Boys 🇩🇪 | 2026

We made it to Dresden, Germany! 🇩🇪 Getting a big family group there was an adventure of its own after a delayed train, a last-minute platform change, the wrong train car, and people sitting in our reserved seats — but eventually we all made it.

We spent the day on a walking tour discovering Dresden and its remarkable history. We explored the historic center, saw the Semperoper and Zwinger, walked through the Royal Palace, learned why the Yenidze looks like a mosque even though it was actually built as a tobacco factory, and saw the enormous Fürstenzug made from thousands of porcelain tiles.

Much of the historic city was destroyed during World War II and later reconstructed, which made seeing Dresden in person especially interesting after knowing it primarily from *Slaughterhouse-Five*.

We finished the day the right way — German food, schnitzel, goulash, and apple strudel with the family.
