    I Slept on a Premium Overnight Bus from London to Prague

    Today I’m taking RegioJet’s premium overnight bus from London to Prague, a journey of over 18 hours across Europe.

    This route takes us from central London to the Czech capital via Brussels, Luxembourg, Germany, and Plzeň, with reclining seats, onboard entertainment, free hot drinks, Wi-Fi, and even a ferry crossing from Dover to Calais.

    So join me as I find out whether this long-distance bus is actually a decent alternative to flying, or whether spending 18 hours on a coach across Europe was a terrible idea.

      So, you have driving on the left side of the road, then right side of the road — I hope they didn’t use the same driver. I’d be sooo confused having to change road sides.

      Night rides scare me. Regularly some bus driver falls asleep. Yikes! And if it’s the same driver, that’s too long to drive . . . especially if you change sides of the road to drive on. Definitely would not be wanting to take this bus.

      Started watching your videos . Must admit you are pretty good vlogger. Like your videos very much. Personally would not be able to do more than 4 hours on a bus. Keep the videos comming.Yes it's a good deal🎉IF you can live through the long bus ride.

      I did the journey in reverse about 30 years ago, after a Slovakian farmer totalled our car. The coach was so different: very tired, single deck, secondhand, imported from Germany. It was about a decade before Czechia joined the EU. The coach was absolutely full when we left Prague but we had a long stop at the German/EU border where about half a dozen passengers were slung off for not having the correct paperwork. No air-conditioning, power sockets, seatbelts etc, but we did make several short stops for a leg stretch and time to buy supplies. We departed early afternoon and arrived in London an hour early, around midday, because we caught an earlier ferry. We lived less than 5 miles from Victoria Coach Station, so were back home in less than 30 minutes. Not a trip I chose to do,but it got us home with all our heavy luggage at a bargain price.

      17:30 – unconscious humour? “The border crossing into the Czech Republic is also completely smooth and without any checks…..?? PS essentials for overnight coach travel – a neck pillow/eye mask/earplugs or noise cancelling headphones.

      I’ve the same route in both directions several times. No issues or complaints. Usually the coach will arrive dead on time . If travelling from Prague to London , the German police will conduct a passport check at the border just past Plzen. The Regio jet is a good option if not choosing to fly . As mentioned the baggage allowance is quite generous.

      Having recently got bitten by the travel bug again, this trip looks a possibility. Not a fan of airports so this ticks a number of boxes. Bus to Prague and then trains back to the UK where I'm from. 🤔 Just subscribed to your channel 👍

      on the one hand, some part of me kinda wants to take a bus like this just for the heck of it
      on the other hand, i think i would actually die ashiuodsahoid (at least if i couldnt rest my head against something and sleep through most of it)

      First I calculated arrival time and yeah that sounded odd…no idea even in Prague what a person could do (especially given the fact about night sleep / shower) around 5/6 in the morning.

      This for sure sounds like either something for "working class" to get to destination where actually work happens or for some "off schedule" tourists.

      Also I was baffled how casually they just announced the delay. Like come on 100% they knew about ferry vs tunnel like hours before hand…or is this overall just a scam and none of the buses actually take the channel because of cost difference?!

      18h on bus – fun, if it is not noisy and WC works, otherwise not fun at all…have to treat it as sightseeing tour of a kind to remain positive imo.

      My only experience was bus (travel group) from Latvia to France, Paris with multiple stops basically in each country along the way including cool huge "gas station" in Poland (or was it Germany) where we could get shower before night sleep (it was like 1-1.5h stop with loads of shower booths available and actually really clean and good. It was like 2000 km or so but time wise comparable. I just remember that at the end point I was super exhausted even though I had reserved a full row of 4 seats to sleep across but it was not comfortable at all, also not safe (as I could not buckle myself in).
      Would I take it again…nah. Rather would go for saving up and skipping say one year's travel plans and just take a car trip / flight + hotel(s) year later.

      p.s. Given your number of travels you should get reusable coffee cup, those plastic (with some addition of paper) ones actually are quite bad for your health!
