Heater in tent? All help needed
I’m going back and forth on my heater build. I have a horizontal vevor heater for my tipi style hot tent. I’m trying right now to build a weatherproof tote for it but keep running into issues making it actually work and SAFE. using it in middle of winter in Ohio so a lot of snow or rain overnight is issue I’m worried about
Some people say just keep the unit outside in the elements but In Ohio a night of snow can pile up quick and clog my intake and just mess the vevor up in general
Do people keep units inside the tent? Is that actually safe?? What’s my best bet with this please help I get so many different answers

i keep mine inside but with a co detector clipped to the tent pole, never had issue with the vevor since it pulls air from outside anyway
The most sensible way is to keep everything inside except the exhaust. Run the exhaust under the tent wall (with some sort of heat shield to prevent the tent from coming in contact with the exhaust pipe). The exhaust pipe and exhaust gases are going to be hot enough to keep snow and ice away. Of course you still need to have a carbon monoxide detector in case a snow apocalypse happens and the exhaust gets buried but this is extremely unlikely.
Are we talking about a diesel heater? You can absolutely not run a diesel heater inside the tent
I have one mounted under the bench in my pop up and just plumb the exhaust and combustion intake out the bottom. It’s been years without a single alarm from the gas detector. It can be a little loud but you get use to it. That being said it could be an issue if you’re worried about the exhaust getting clogged by snow.
If i was you I’d probably look into making a custom exhaust for it so that I could plumb it out the top just like a stove.
