This is not the END | Our Peak District Adventure & The Latest Motorhome Update!

Welcome to the finale of our GROUNDED mini-series, where we’ve been proving that just because our motorhome is at the dealers having warranty work done, it doesn’t mean our adventures have to stop, early retirement fun resumes! ๐Ÿ˜

This time, we’re heading to the beautiful Peak District for an overnight stay at The Moon Inn in Stoney Middleton. It’s a rather grey day, but we’ve got our walking boots on, waterproofs at the ready and Roger along for the adventure.

Our plan was to explore Coombs Dale, but somewhere along the way we managed to take a wrong turning! Never mind, the scenery was beautiful, the fresh air was wonderful, and we still enjoyed a lovely four-mile walk through the stunning Derbyshire countryside. We even found a lovely spot to stop, enjoy our packed lunch and take in the views.

After our walk, we check into The Moon Inn, enjoy a glass of fizz before heading downstairs for dinner. And what a dinner it was! The steak and ale pies were incredible and come highly recommended by Google reviews.

A comfortable night’s sleep followed by a hearty English breakfast, made with lovely quality ingredients, certainly set us up for the next day’s adventures.

So as to walk off breakfast, we head out to explore Stoney Middleton and make our way up to Lovers’ Leap, an impressive area known for its climbing and caving. There’s always something new to discover when you take the time to explore!

On our way home, we make a stop in Sutton in Ashfield to drop off our motorhome carpets with Brian, who’s going to use our old carpets as templates to make us some new ones. We’re looking forward to seeing how they turn out, so we’ll keep you posted!

And we’re not finished yet! With Storm Austen forecast to arrive over the next few days, we take the opportunity to visit nearby Silver Hill Wood for one more beautiful Autumn walk, this time with the sunshine making an appearance.

During this episode we give you the latest on our Motorhome and when we can expect to be back on the road ๐Ÿคž

So, that’s the end of our GROUNDED series, but it’s certainly not the end of Moores on Tour!

Of course, we can’t wait to get our van back and return to our travels, but this little series has reminded us that you don’t need a motorhome to have an adventure.

Thank you to everyone who’s watched, commented, offered advice and supported us through the motorhome saga. We really do appreciate every single one of you.

    A Little About Us….

After taking early retirement to fulfil our lifelong dream of travelling full-time in a motorhome, we began our van life journey in the UK in July 2025, before heading through France and Spain.

Sadly, our adventure was cut short when we had to return to the UK in October 2025 after our beloved cockapoo Rolo became seriously unwell. We were heartbroken to say goodbye and let him cross the rainbow bridge ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿพ. Our original plan to continue on to Morocco was placed on hold as we focused on healing and honouring his memory.

We love to explore, enjoy cycling, running and just generally embrace the great outdoors.

    Our 2026 travel plans…..

Weโ€™ve now returned to the road in 2026, starting with:
    โœ” UK travels
โœ” South & South Eastern France
    โœ” North Spain
    โœ” West France
โœ” Making full use of our 90-day Schengen allowance

This is only the beginning and weโ€™ll be sharing every step as our plans evolve. If you have must-see places, hidden gems, or van life tips, we would absolutely love to hear them in the comments!

Meet Our Van Life Puppy…. ๐Ÿถ

We also welcome a new little member to our family, Roger, our 1 year old Golden Doodle puppy! Heโ€™ll be growing up as a true van lifer, and we canโ€™t wait to share all his crazy adventures with you too.

Follow our real, honest van life journey, the highs, the challenges, the laughs, and the lessons. Learn from our mistakes, celebrate our wins, and travel with us as we chase freedom on four wheels.

๐Ÿ™ Thank you so much for supporting our journey, it truly means the world to us. Please like, subscribe, and comment to join our van life family!

    1. Good evening. Thank you for tuning in for the last of our Grounded Series. Hopefully we get the van back on Friday so we're planning to set off on Sunday. Thank you for sticking with us ๐Ÿ˜Š
Any help on the Winter prep would be gratefully appreciated. Have a great weekend โค๏ธ

    2. You can use main route to Spain avoiding the regions/roads that require you to legally have at least snow socks. I wouldn't bother changing tyres until you need to and then possibly look at options that would give you peace of mind wherever you 'may' get caught in future ๐Ÿ˜‰

    3. Looks like a nice place to be grounded ๐Ÿ˜‚ we watched St Christopher too. We keep a horse high up on the moors and the farmer uses chains on his land rover. There is no way he would get up there without the chains. Looking forward to watching you sunning it up in December, lucky devils ๐Ÿ˜

    4. Weโ€™ve changed to Michelin camper all season tyres, great improvement over the original tyres. Great in the heat of summer, brilliant in the rain, unfortunately not had any snow to try but seems better when the weather turns cold. Would definitely buy again.
      Hope this of some help.

    5. Just get four season tyres. No worries if you stick to the coast through Spain via the Perpignan way and through France, they are very good at clearing and salting the roads. The bfg all terrain are pretty pointless on a camper and it will probably drope the mpg up a bit. If you can find a good deal on snow chains for peace of mind, then why not but there are certain areas where you have to have winter tyres or chains. All season should be good to go in my experience.

    6. Loving the Grounded Vlogs but looking forward to you setting off on your travels again soon. We have the Michelin Cross Climate tyres & they are brilliant. Not too noisy either. Safe travels & hope all well with MH when you collect it Xx

    7. Another great vlog and we're looking forward to your European adventure, we're just coming to the end of our two months. We did a quick few days Le Harve to Spain and then the rest of the time in Spain. Just got to San Sebastian. Just a quick question, we had a similar problem with ours (power steering ) and apart from replacing the battery and resetting the codes we didn't get anything else done to it and we've nearly done 3k miles since, without the problem reoccurring, did they do anything on yours to fix the steering problem?

    8. Enjoying your vlogs ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ƒ
We went to Switzerland last winter and changed to Michelin crossclimate 2 all season tyres with the 3 peaks on them beforehand.
In our experience we could drive longer on snow before having to fit the chains, but if you only had standard tyres you would have to put chains on much sooner which isnโ€™t something you want to do too often in freezing weather.
The tyres Can be used all year round and we havenโ€™t noticed any difference with the road noise.
Our recommendation is winter tyres and snow chains
      Hope this helps ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

      Hope this helps

    9. Hi guys glad the MH is being repaired. Now you know what I felt like after ours was away for 9 weeks. For your tyres mine is probably the same standard M&S Michelin CP tyres. If youโ€™re going to high places in Europe youโ€™ll definitely need at least chains or socks (socks are only for soft snow) but if you have winter tyres with the 3 peaks on them you donโ€™t need chains but for belt and braces might be better to have them. Iโ€™ve got a set of chains, never used them yet but I donโ€™t think they are the best and they look cheap.
Iโ€™m not not so keen on the BF Goodrich tyres on my MH but on the smaller campers i think they look great. But I think for the time they would come in to their own is probably a lot less if you think about all the main roads or motorways thatโ€™ll you will be driving especially if they are noisy Iโ€™d stick with the camper tyres or replace them with the Michelin all season ones. Iโ€™ve heard good reports of them.
Lee and Jodi from Lifes4touring had the BF Goodrich tyres fitted. St Christopher of Atlantis is another one of my favourite channels.

    10. Enjoyed watching your vlog, another great pub.
Regarding your question about tyres, when we have driven down to Spain in the winter, we have Continental all season tyres fitted & take snow chains, never used them. Hope this helps.
Great to see Wayne is still in shorts! I am but we are in Peniscola,Spain โ˜€๏ธ

    11. We have the Michelin camper all season and they have been amazing we have done Spain in winter so bought snow chains but to be honest we have never needed them but the law is the law. Great vlog guys and so glad the motorhome is getting sorted and you will be back on the road in no time. Just as a little side note my son put BG Goodrich on his motorhome because we do motorcross and quite often end up on muddy fields they are a bit more noisy but he has said they have made a bigger difference to the fuel consumption in a bad way. Hope this helps. Jenni Jon and jack ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

    12. Hello guyโ€™s, I was in France all April and May and all around the south were signs about winter tyres, I got 4 Michelin Cross Climate ones and theyโ€™re great, but I actually think its a legal requirement and chains only in bad snow! BTW love following your vlogs and have fun x

    13. Hi we have Bridgestone duravis all season tyres which are great I have also got a set of Michelin snow socks as we are going on our winter road trip like you hot footing it thro France and then in to Spain and Portugal to chase the sun

    14. Great Vlog again , always look forward to see what you have been up to and Roger๐Ÿ•.
It wonโ€™t be long now for your next adventure , safe journeys and take care , will look forward to seeing your new adventure โคโค

    15. Hi Gail Wayne ,and Roger. Loving your vlogs. We are leaving 23 Nov hot footing through France toNorthern Spain. We havent done anything with tyres just decided to check weather when we get to Spain and pick our rout and destination carefully. Aiming for the Algarve for Xmas where we lived for 8 years ( Silves ) enjoy you trip never know we might bump in to each other. Jim Sue and Ruby the Border terrier one year old ๐Ÿ‘

    16. So pleased you guys can get on your motorhome travels again ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘ really looking forward to be able to watch some sunny spain whilst sat in rainy Leicestershire ๐Ÿ˜‚, apparently Seville region is great for winter sun ๐Ÿ‘. Iโ€™m replacing my tyres and going for Mitchelin Agilis Cross Climate, reviews seem really good, even for wet winters here in the UK, will handle wet grass really well and low noise. They have the three peaks, I think with the amount of touring you do, a cross climate tyres is what will be good ๐Ÿ‘
