    2. I can see why Peter Jackson chose it for Mount doom, it just looks right. Tbh, most stratovolcanoes would look the part lol

    3. It’s amazing how quickly nature reclaimed it after the One Ring was destroyed. 20 years and such a remarkable transformation

      I wonder how many New Zealanders watched LOTR and when they showed Mt Doom they were all like “what? Nah that’s just Mt Ngauruhoe 😂”

    5. I made a research and it seems this is an active volcano that spills lava. So technically it’s possible to forge a ring there. Just saying…

      The thing that was so brilliant about filming in NZ is that if you aren’t from there –and let’s face it, most of us aren’t– the landscape and foliage and everything looks superficially familiar but also subtly “alien” or “fantastical.” At least to the eyes of someone used to temperate zones in the northern hemisphere.
