I had a pencil thin snake about 3ft long in my hotel room in Palawan, it freaked me out. The hotel owner had a special snake trap that dealt with it. I was on the ground floor and there was a rainstorm and he said itโs quite common for snakes to find dry places, so beware!
Great to watch the replay of this, it was a little late in our time zone for this old man. Strange that the feed is being interrupted like there's a lag, even though I've paused it and run some other YT videos on 1080 without interruption. Does YT store these in servers in the region they are produced until there are a certain number of replays or something? Anyway, lovely to see you do another live stream.
I'm not sure weather it's because I eat a lot of garlic, or because I only use Ivory soap for bathing but I'm always lucky when it comes to mosquitoes. If I'm out with my friends and they're being eaten up by them, most of the time I'm never even bit. I was worried that it might just be American mosquitoes that don't like me, but I spent time in South America when there were many mosquitoes in Ecuador and Venezuela and they still didn't bother me. Just curious since you mentioned repellents, but I've never used any in my life.
Seems like the airlines are on to the "onward travel ticket" thing. I'm finding US to Cebu Round trip is around $1800, One-way is $1600. Any tips to help find cheaper one-way air tickets?
Dan, just listened to this. Nicely done. On the final question, I cannot fathom why so many x-pat vloggers when asked whether they would return to the US, answer something as "Yes I love the US but … bla bla bla …. and therefore I would never return." The thought of living USA nowadays is incomprehensible to me. The politics there, insane. Gun "culture." Tipping "culture." Car "culture." Consumerism "culture" — and the pure idiocy of keeping up materialistically with you neighbors. Heck, the cost of even friggin' eggs. Rents. Basics as getting a basic university education and healthcare, both in US are the most expensive on Earth. And the anger and real hatred towards one another. Or, to me, the belief that the soil of where you are born means anything at all. My American friends whom are still living in US, well their lives haven't changed much since I left. All the towns are pretty much identical, with the same fast foods, cheesecake factorys', olive gardens' and those cheap neon advertising literally everywhere as again considered as "culture." The entire narrow insular ideology there completely blows my mind.
Honestly, I left the USA back in 1995, way way before YouTube and even the modern Internet, and today the only way I'd return is kicking and screaming all the way.

Would you say S. E. Asia is much more affordable? For someone who is vegetarian and into yoga etc, which region would be more favorable would you say? Do you favor living in S.E. Asia?
