EPIC 8-week European vacation (Part 1: Iceland)

To celebrate Eddie’s retirement from the Army we spent the last year planning this momentous trip. We had tickets to the Monaco Grand Prix (May 2020) and Running of the Bulls (July 2020) which both obviously got canceled due to the pandemic. 🙁 Therefore, we decided to hit those events this summer (2023) and filled the 8 weeks in between with one seriously amazing vacation!

Day 1: Golden Circle (Fridheimer green house restaurant, Kerid Crater, Faxafoss Waterfall, Geysirs, Gullfoss Waterfall)
Day 2: South Ring Road (Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, Gljufraui Waterfall, Dranurinn ruins, Skógafoss Waterfall, Solheimascandur Plane Wreck, Dyrhólaey Lighthouse, Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, Reynisgrangar Columns, Hálsanefshellir Cave)
Day 3: East Ring Road (Diamond Beach, Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, Eggin í Gleoivíc egg sculptures, Seydisfjordur town, Dettifoss Waterfall)
Day 4: North Ring Road (Krafla Volcano / Viti Crater, Leirhnjukur mud peak, Myvatn geothermal area, Godafoss Waterfall, Beer Spa, Baccalabá Restaurant, Grafarkirkja turf church)
Day 5: Northwest Ring Road (Reykjafoss Waterfall, Kolugljúfur Canyon/Waterfall, Grabrok Craters, Kirkjufellsfoss Waterfall, Kirjufell Mountain, Búoakirkja black church, Arnarstapi Cliff Viewpoint, Bárdur Saga Statue, Gatklettur rock formation, La Poza de Arnastapi, Stone Bridge)
Day 6: Reykjavik (Hallgrimskirka Cathedral, Rainbow Street, Statues/Sculptures, Dómkirkjan Reykjavik Cathedral, Althingí Parliament Building, SKY LAGOON, Tapas Barinn Restaurant)
Day 7: Keflavik (Geothermal Bakery, BLUE LAGOON)
Day 8: Flight cancellation
Day 9: Travel Day
