Walk with me along United Street which stretches across two cities in Metro Manila: Pasig and Mandaluyong. It is where United Laboratories, Inc (or Unilab), a Philippine private pharmaceutical conglomerate, is located.
Unilab started out in 1945 as a small drugstore at Santo Cristo Street in Binondo, Manila with the name United Drug Co. It has since grown to become a major player in the pharmaceutical market, producing a wide range of prescription and over-the-counter medicines, as well as other healthcare products in the Philippines and the rest of Southeast Asia.
Unilab is the largest pharmaceutical company in the Philippines in terms of market share. As of 2016, it accounts for 25.1% of the market share in the country.
