    Our BIGGEST CHALLENGE Yet After 13 Years At Sea (Pacific Crossing 8 of 8) S.V. Delos Ep. 423



    After more than a decade of sailing around the world, we thought we’d pretty much seen it all. But becoming parents and raising a tiny captain at sea has both tested us and rewarded us in ways that we didn’t know were possible. This is our daughter Sierra, she’s 3 and a half years old and has lived at sea on our floating home since she was just four months old. 17 days ago we set off on our biggest undertaking yet as a family, sailing 3,000 nautical miles across the mighty Pacific Ocean from Mexico to French Polynesia. So for today’s episode, grab your sippee cup and your favorite stuffed animal and join us for a glimpse into what it’s really like to cross an ocean with a toddler!

      You'd be surprised how well Sierra will adjust to situation. Biggest thing is don't tell her what to think…kids will react to parents opinions and reactions. If you handle it well and act like nothing is wrong she will more then likely think 20 days at sea is just normal way things are.

      Great episode guys! Really enjoyed this one. Sierra is such a trooper getting through those 20 days. She reminds me so much of our daughter when she was preschool age❤. Looking forward to next weeks one land episode

      We have traveled by car across the country with our daughter when she was young (2 and up) and our key to success was short stints, 3 hrs at a time. We'd plan to stop and play tourist or go for a walk or whatever it took to get the wiggles out, see something interesting, have a local snack and so on. I cannot fathom not being able to "stop" and have that change in scenery with a toddler. You all are champions for pulling this off!

      We are also a saling family with a one year old, and we really admire how yall have been able to be a family at sea with a baby/toddler. We found really quickly, after some not great experiences that we needed family or friends to come with us on every sailing trip, but it is still challenging. Now with another on the way, we are always trying to learn tricks to how to care for littles on a boat and now how another baby is going to fit into boat life. We have learned a lot by watching you and other sailing families, but we also really appreciate the honest moments of how hard it can be. At the end of the day, its a net positive and thats what matters! Thanks for sharing your life with us and maybe one day we will see you out there 🙂
