Saying Goodbye Sailing Paradise. The Caribbean, Cariacou and St Maarten
goodbye to our new friends. Hurricane season has started. We can not find a good and safe solution for Trimaran Dawn. We consider sailing away when a hurricane is coming. but Trimaran Dawn is having some serious problems that need to be fixed. and I do not feel like i can handle her all by my self if Cheryl and Camino will take good shelter on the land.
Predict wind forcasts are giving 30 to 40 days tacking eastward to cross the Atlantic back to Europe. Can we Sail Trimaran Dawn so long against the winds and the waves. Can we be sailing that long?
Staying is a bad option, Sailing the Atlantic in the wrong season also a bad option. what to do?
This is a sad unexpected episode but we hope you subscribe to follow our adventures and see of the Atlantic be mercifull to us. episode 061

    1. Ari, wishing you the best from San Francisco. You have a very high level of skills. I am always amazed at how good you are with diagnosis and how to repair what you've discovered going wrong. People who don't own boats have no idea what it takes to maintain a boat. The ocean is a demanding mistress, ya? Did you hear about the 'cane that hit Acapulco? Forecast was for a tropical storm of max wind speed of 50 mph. Overnight it went from 50 to 160 mph Cat 5 hurricane. Never happened before in history….EVER!!! I can't imagine being caught out in even a 50 knot depression. Things are changing on our lovely blue planet. Be careful Ari….

    2. Whoa, that front beam is nasty! Good thing you found it though. Are you not afraid that the point loads these threaded rods are creating will destroy the core and just chew through the laminate? I hope you can find a hurricane hole somewhere, because it would be scary to beat to windward for thousands of miles like that. Good luck with the repairs in any case.

    3. Thanks to all of you wishing us to stay save . Sadly we did not have the option and backup to do so. All we could do was prepare as good as possible and look for the best moment.. that moment comes in our next episode. Thanks again for your concerns

    4. Thanks for sharing your lives with us and your knowledge.. knowledge from a skilled person is worth more than almost anything. Everything I have learned is from older people who were great at certain things..

    5. Scarrry beam problem, glad you found it in time. Not sure about the threaded rods, surely that will give a concentrated load, not good. But maybe I have not understood your problem.
