Welcome to Sicily, Italy’s southern island nestled in the heart of the Mediterranean. While Italy attracts millions of tourists each year, many tend to focus on its more iconic cities and regions. Sicily is by no means a hidden gem, but it certainly provides a more authentic and less crowded Italian experience. With its alluring mix of ancient ruins, charming coastal towns, and delicious cuisine, this is the Italy we’ve been looking for. We are so lucky that Tommy’s parents are joining us on this unforgettable roadtrip as we go beyond the usual tourist hotspots and immerse ourselves in the Sicilian culture.
Our first destination was the enchanting town of Taormina. In this picturesque, cliffside town, there was so much to do. We visited Isola Bella, a stunning island just off the coast, indulged in incredible dishes like the iconic Bam Bar granitas and pistachio pasta, and delved into the rich history at the ancient amphitheater.
We then headed to Ortigia, a charming island brimming with character and history. Strolling through the streets, we discovered the vibrant outdoor market, where local vendors displayed an array of fresh produce, artisanal crafts, spices, and FRESH seafood. The market’s lively atmosphere was sensory overload, and we couldn’t resist sampling some of the incredible seafood. The culinary scene in Ortigia, especially its exceptional seafood, makes it an unmissable highlight on any Sicily road trip.
Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples stands as an essential stop on a Sicily journey. This ancient archaeological site has well-preserved Greek ruins that transport visitors back in time. We went at sunset for ideal lighting and a great atmosphere.
Erice, a hilltop town in Sicily, is a must-visit destination. With its cobblestone streets and medieval architecture, the town offers a charming and historic atmosphere. We tried the local cookies, which were so yummy. The town’s unique blend of history and culinary delights makes it a memorable stop on any Sicilian itinerary.
We spent a couple nights in Castellammare del Golfo, a charming town on the northwest coast of Sicily.
We ended our road trip spending few days by the sea near Messina, providing a perfect place to reflect on our incredible Sicilian adventure.

DEAR LADY, I LIKE IT WHEN YOU BEHAVE YOURSELF WITH ONLY A PRETTY SMILE ON YOUR FACE. ALL THE OTHER FACES ARE UGLY CLOWN SHOWING………….PLEASE DO A LITTLE BITT NORMAL.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video. My wife and I are planning a 2024 fall 4 week trip to Sicily so this will be helpful. Looked at your previous videos and see a few more that will be helpful for future plans..you both seem to like similar things as my wife and I. A possible trip for you both is the Andalucia region of Spain. We just returned from 3 weeks, visiting Granada, Cordoba (my second favorite city after Lisbon) and Sevilla. We did two final days in Malaga so I could chase around birds, I can never get enough bird photography in now that we are both retired, and then headed back home from there.
Can you share who you used for the tour of mt Etna?
Hey guys, best video on Sicily I have seen yet. I've lived in Palermo and absolutely love Sicily and most YouTubers somehow do a terrible job of showing the real Sicily and how amazing the food is but you guys, fantastic! Thank you.
