In May 2023 I travelled to Munich where I rented a bike, some panniers, and packed them full of camping gear. I then started pedaling south into the geographical behemoth that is the Alps. I spent the next three days traversing rivers, valleys, mountains in the hope of climbing to my highest ever point in cycling – The St. Christoph am Arlberg pass at 1,802m.
On all my travels I like to listen to music from the area to help submerse myself my surroundings. Much of the modern German/Austrian music failed to encompass the sheer scale of the Alps, and I found myself best acquainted with Beethoven, Bach, Mozart and some of the older greats. Nearly as old and great as the Alps themselves.
