Hello Everyone,
I just booked a small villa on a Caribbean island on [booking.com](https://booking.com). I was under the assumption that the price is $1500 because during the booking process they stated:

So why am I now getting a message from the property manager that I booked with stating that they will be charging me $1746? Does [booking.com](https://booking.com) not include taxes and other hidden fees? How in the world would I know what these fees are if they aren’t listed anywhere? BTW I’m not ordering any additional supplements such as an extra bed.

**Update:**
Property manager e-mailed me back (rather quickly) and said there was a 14% sales tax and $50 tourism tax. How would I know this? I’m now not sure if the property manager is to blame, seems as though [booking.com](https://booking.com) is misleading customers. Will try and call [booking.com](https://booking.com) to see what they have to say.

Different currency??
Are you sure the message is from the property manager and not a scammer? Is it asking you to click on some other site to make payments?
I haven’t booked on there before (I use Expedia) but I imagine its taxes or fees you pay direct to the property when you get there. I would be surprised if any hotel booking is $1500 flat without cents and dollars.
Can you book directly with the property instead?
Complain with booking.com…. Also relevant, where did you book? If you book from the EU as a EU citizen EU rules apply which means that all unavoidable costs have to be clear when you book. If I hear the stories, in the US it is a wild west with hidden fees, so the rules there may be different and in many other countries there are no rules or at least not enforced. But if the pricing says taxes and fees are included it is obviously bogus that the owner says taxes have to be added.
