An American looking for Russian food in a super Russian city | Food trip to Tula
Hello friends and welcome to Russia tips tricks and travel must eat Edition today we’re in the city of tula and we’re going to show you where you should and possibly shouldn’t go to eat while you’re in this lovely town anyways Tula is a very Russian city so I wanted to
Start off with some sort of really Russian Cuisine but everyone said this place the hinal by the Kremlin this is the best place you’ve got to go hinal are like dumplings from the caucus Mountain so not a very Russian start but everyone says this place is awesome so
Is it uh does it live up to the hype or let’s find out So here we have the hinalii dumplings we have hachapuri which is kind of like a sauceless pizza which doesn’t sound good in English but it’s fantastic I believe this is called saivi it’s like a cool Chicken Nut cream flavored sauce it’s very good the description of it doesn’t
Sound good but it’s awesome and these things I forget what they are but I remember they taste Yeah look at that cheese look at that that’s all cheese cheese cheese and more cheese on excellent I think thing about how chap is is that it’s a very salty cheese so you’re taking Pizza you’re taking taking out the sauce but you’re putting in a little
Bit of oil a little bit of extra salt in there very salty very Nice roll things here now I’m going to guess that there’s probably a very strong garlic flavor especially by the smell it seems like Blended nuts lot of garlic lot of garlic salt and a little bit heat so after I ate it the heat kind of came
Out very nice very nice you want want to call this like some sort of like caucus sushi in a way very good I like the heat at the end Cuisine from the caucus mountains is while you’re in Russia you really need to try it because it’s familiar yet
Different everything kind of looks like something you’ve had somewhere else but the taste is very different so it’s really worth giving it a try well hinalii aren’t very Russian but then again neither’s a steakhouse but everyone says that sens is the place to go so what can I
Say salon’s was not what I was expecting and a affordable beer and Steakhouse in Russia sounds like a winner the coolest part is they take you over to their special refrigerators to pick up your steak does picking the steak make a difference no but it probably is the
Best kind of shopping that I can say I have ever enjoyed this place may not be very Tula or Russian but gosh darn that $250 micro bir beer looks like a great option to me whoa what that the Steak That was one heck of a salt shaker and one heck of a steak all right let’s dig into this here we go rock and roll Time it’s um interesting it’s got that usual sort of stringy steak texture on the outside but on the inside it’s like super super soft at sens they keep selected meat for 28 days in special refrigerators and somehow this process is supposed to make them Ultra Soft and
It sure Works wow that steak was so soft it was like cutting through a boiled potato the flavor was amazing that meat was so good I would love to stop right here but I must loosen my belt and push forward there’s much more to eat in Tula H I’m sensing a theme here because the number three spot is again foreign food this time Serbian you know in Serbia they love Russia which we here love Serbian food let’s find Out Look at that they made like a little lid oh isn’t that super cute oh smells meaty that means it’s going to be Good very nice what does this remind me of it’s kind of like goulash but more Soupy very nice this is you know exactly the kind of thing I like to make at home for myself only I don’t make it this good whatever lovely it’s like an apple strudel but with no apples and lots of cheese very Strudle fantastic absolutely Fantastic oh I’m happy man what can I Say exellent I’m a big beef fan I love the way things taste when they’re grilled definitely get that Grill flavor awesome Kind of missed that one enough but potatoes have almost like a little pesto sauce on them never thought about it but uh good good mix works well as they say beef it’s what’s for dinner and lunch and breakfast today here in Tula not that I’m complaining from all this filling meaty Bine Delight
I’m pretty much at a loss for words because everywhere we went the food was really good mhm well what can I say I’m satisfied very satisfied well guys I am full to the brim of meat and that makes me a happy man you know I was kind of hoping one of

During my trip to Tula, I managed to eat in three popular restaurants within walking distance of the main attractions of the city. If you decide to come to the arms capital of Russia, it’s very likely that, thanks to reviews on the Internet, your choice will fall on them when you want to eat. Therefore, I decided to try everything myself.
The first on my list was ‘Khinkalnaya by the Kremlin’. The name says two things: the restaurant is located very close to the Tula Kremlin and serves Georgian cuisine. So, my choice of dishes was obvious: khinkali, khachapuri and satsivi. If you’ve only heard the names of these dishes before, then you’ll have a great opportunity to form an opinion about them here! And those who are already familiar with Georgian cuisine will not be disappointed.
I later looked into the Saldens Porterhouse. It’s a very Western establishment, both in terms of cuisine and service, which for some may be a minus. But if you’re not looking for gastronomic adventures, and simply want to try a familiar, but very good steak, then Saldens is perfect. In addition, the beer served there is really excellent.
I ended my busy day at the Serbian Restaurant Public. And again, a meat feast awaited me: goulash and another steak. This place is the closest to what, it seemed to me, a person would imagine, when thinking about Russian cuisine. Not surprising.
Yes, this list didn’t include a single restaurant with national Russian cuisine. But instead of this, Tula offers excellent restaurants of other cultures and the opportunity to try dishes that are not so often seen outside of Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

I enjoy watching your videos about Russia, please, keep filming 😊
ahahaha love the maccas bash at the end, well done Tim.
Every time I think about Tula it reminds me of the ammo plant. Then I think about how expensive bullets are. Then I'm just mad. But still a cool city.
