  1. Excellent video, shame the windscreen wasn't cleaned though. Can someone please clarify the flashing green lights on a section after the stop at Peterborough. As far as I was aware, this went back to the days when you were permitted to travel at 140mph on certain sections of the route. As the maximum line speed is now 125mph, why are they flashing?

  2. Sounds like the driver had forgotten to do the brake reset during cab set-up, hence why the alarm sounded at 0:17 when they moved the master switch to forward 🙂

Putting the brake into emergency and back again will fix the problem,

  3. I'm surprised the UK allows level crossings on high-speed lines. The U. S. Federal Railroad Administration requires grade separation for any line with a maximum allowable speed of 110 mph or more.

  4. I know that OHLE “moves” from side to side to even the wear on pantograph. Is there any evid3nce of a hypnotic effect on drivers? I know they concentrate more carefully than me (and have to respond to alarms) but I was beginning to drop off.

  5. Question? At 41.17mins, the old signal box at the Holme crossing and the loop prior to it seem to be on the wrong side or the train was on the up line towards Huntingdon and London?

  6. A very interesting video, thanks. Great respect to the drivers on these routes – the level of concentration needed so as to note every signal flashing by must be considerable.

  7. Made that journey a few times . Firstly for basic training at ,RAF Swinderby , a short bus journey from Newark Northgate . Then later for Scampton and Waddington . Also the hospital at ,Nocton Hall . Love the format with the info on screen .

  8. A cracking little route learner giving the important basics. A good idea may have been to have an indicator showing the mileage covered from leaving LKX as the journey progresses.

  9. I gotta ask, what do all the little dings and beeps mean? Also this video is phenomenal! As an American who loved traveling on the train in England, I'm glad that you guys post this because it brings so many good memories for me, and it's also somewhat helpful in planning my next trip this summer!

  10. Even though I don’t live in the uk let alone Europe it’s amazing seeing a real time trip on the railway and more interesting than the goods trains we see here in Canada
