BEST10 MUST-BUY SOUVENIR at FamilyMart TOKYO, JAPAN 2024
Hi, everyone. I’m heading to Japanese convenience store, FailyMart. Good morning, lady. Excuse me. Behind you. First step? Yes. Something sweet. Winter brings me a special treat with a lineup of strawberry flavored desserts. But I’m going for the classic favorite. A delicious crepe. And check out this uniquely shaped pudding dot curry.
Of course. I’ll show you detail later. I snagged a TV acclaimed rich custard cream puff. Oh, the joy of finding gems like these. Moving on to the bento and side dish section. I arrived just after the morning delivery around 10 a.m.. Perfect timing to find a wide variety.
I’m aiming for something healthy, so I’m grabbing a pork shabu salad. But I can’t resist getting not one, but two on Aguirre. A massive spam onigiri and a classic tuna mayo. Guilty pleasure. I know. Now, off to the bakery section. My favorite spot. Look at this. Freshly stocked array of bread.
It’s just wonderful. Among the vast selection. I’m picking up a popular cream bread from Familymart. And for a cool twist, here’s Family Mart’s original frappe in a frozen block. I chose the Royal Milk tea flavor. A popular comeback. Next to them looks like collaboration with Doraemon and melon flavor for limited edition.
After paying, I’ll transform it into a frappe using the in-store machine. And let’s open the…lid….hmm I couldn’t. Set in the machine. This press the wrap button and voila. While waiting, I take lid and straw. A little mixing turns it into the perfect chilled treat. Ta-da!
Still frozen, so I’ll take it to the outside. I’m gonna show detail and eat them at my favorite park nearby. I just landed in this quiet park. Thought I was alone until I heard the joyful noise of kids from a nearby nursery. What a peaceful weekday morning.
I’m settling on a swing with my familymart held to share with you. First up, I should eat their original hot and fresh chicken. Just a ten minute walk from the store, and it’s still piping hot. Tada! Looks yummy. The chicken’s meaty, the coatings crispy, and it’s all juicy inside.
All this for just ¥220. That’s enough to say Japan is amazing. Same from the hot snack section. The black pork bun priced the same as the chicken. As you can see, it looks really big. Fold in half by hand, unbelievably soft and chewy, like a fluffy, springy cloud. I never touched, actually.
Inside, it’s like a hamburger with domestic pork and onions. Reminds me of splitting snacks with friends on the way home from school. Then there’s the cream bread. It’s quite popular in the bakery section, and for a good reason. Unlike the usual round cream breads, this one shaped like an old fashioned glove.
Did you know cream bread originated in Japan? The firm sweet cream pairs perfectly with the fluffy bread, almost able to stop a fight. It is so sweet and yummy. And now the star of the show, the Familymart original crepe. Opening it. The fillings hidden, but split it and voila. Cream and chocolate
Still out, packed with cream. It’s a sweet tooth string. The crepe itself surpasses convenience store quality by miles. Don’t let me forget the cream puff. It got a bit squished, but inside it’s a perfect custard and cream waiting to burst out. Wow. The creamy filling is
So dense it’s a wonder how it all fits in there. And it’s in the ¥100 range. I know. Unbelievable. Moving on to the Onigiri section, the Japanese style mayonnaise. One has this delightful brown rice. It tastes like it’s seasoned with Japanese dashi. Absolutely it’s my favorite one. Delicious.
The seaweeds more moist than crispy. Filled generously with sweet mayo and tuna. This tuna mayo on a is a staple in Japanese convenience stores. If you visit, you must try it! I’ve only introduced seven items so far.
The rest of them is too difficult to eat in here, so I will bring to home. All right, let’s head back. I’m home. I’ve brought home a trio of treats that are pretty unique a pork shabu shabu pasta salad, a spam riceball and a soufflé pudding. These are dishes
You likely won’t find in your country, But trust me, they’re all delicious. First off, let’s dive into this mysterious shapes of pudding with a silhouette that screams intrigue. It’s actually a soufflé on top. A gentle press with a spoon, and it caves right in. That’s how fluffy it is.
It’s like a parfait made with pudding, complete with caramel. Eating it vertically gives you the perfect blend of flavors. This velvety pudding is a must try. Available all year round. So don’t miss it when you’re in Japan. Next I have the oversize spam rice ball. As the package shows,
It’s an rice ball with the famous American spam inside. Spam has a unique place in Japan, becoming a staple about 750 years ago, after the battle of Okinawa led to the devastation of pig farming. And spam became a popular substitute due to its shelf stability. It’s bigger than usual rice ball…
There are spam and sweet fried egg. And there are again Mayonnaise. It is avoidable combination with rice. Lastly, the piece de résistance the pork shabu pasta salad. Sounds confusing with all these elements, right? It’s actually quite straightforward. Pasta at the bottom, topped with pork shabu shabu and salad separated neatly.
Drizzle the sesame dressing over it. Mix it with the pasta and voila. You’ve got yourself an exquisite Japanese style pasta salad that might just make an Italian chef raise an eyebrow. But it’s incredibly satisfying. So what did you think of today’s video?
If there’s anything else you’d like me to explore or introduce, let me know. I’m all ears for suggestions, especially around the Tokyo area. And as always, thanks for watching. See you in the next video.
