CHIANG MAI’S BEST DAY TRIP | Wat Doi Suthep and Tribe Village
Good morning it’s currently 7:00 a.m. and we’re getting ready to go to Thailand’s most famous temple what what meaning Temple plat meaning Buddhist Relic which I’ll talk about when we get there and DOI means mountain and suep is the name of the mountain so let’s go before it gets too
Busy because the car broke we still got a bike for a few days left on the rental so everyone needs a bit of DAV Becka in their life no I don’t have smelly feet it’s just Emma let Percy get up my boots they have still been washed though yeah been
They’ve been washed but they just they just need a little bit of Beckham boost Percy has still not learned to not put up things so being pretty candid there the worst part is he has learned he knows it’s wrong but he does it all the Same So don’t know if you’ve heard me talk about it before whenever you see a psyo Ean you must purchase it psyo Ean is Dominic’s favorite food in Thailand it’s a sausage with rice noodles in it as you can see lovely noodles isan meaning the isan region where it comes from to go to
We haven’t had anything this morning so bit of sausage won’t do anyone no harm the most expensive I’ve ever purchased but I guess it’s set prices how much was it 20 bus 20 bu so normally it’s 10 he is right at the entrance though problem is now I’m subject to being attacked
From my sausage there are a hell of a lot of soy dogs here and I’m quite scared of soy dogs I know we’ve got Percy but he’s only tiny the soy dogs here are really big and we nearly got attacked by some the other
Day so I’m a bit wary so now every soy dog in sees she’s on fear mode causing us to then get attacked so are you no I’m not yes you are you got nervous then well I am walking around with a sausage okay so we are at the bottom of
The 300 stairs I I think Don probably forgot this we got 306 stairs to climb up to get to the top of the temple how you feel got a map sausage we’re trying to Dom’s trying to eat the sausage before we head up it feels kind of disrespectful to be stuffing your face
With sausage at the temple so I think technically those 306 stairs start when you get to the nagger head either side of the stairs you’ve got these nagger snakes guarding it with the nagger snakes in Buddhism represent safety or protection for the Buddha so they protecting the temple I suppose it feels
Weird being here because we were here I would say what 2016 yeah last time I was here 2016 and I definitely feel like a different person from being here before and now and especially that we were here you know peak time during rain season it was
Raining a lot but it was packed like this whole the whole stairs you couldn’t move and now obviously we can see there’s two people here so come early it’s not even it’s not even that early that early yeah but I mean you know you’re early when you can see there’s a
Lot of um shops here that obviously tourist but most of them aren’t even open I think there’s literally three shops out of what 30 yeah that are open most of them are closed so clearly they’re not expecting people to come at 8:00 which I find quite surprising I think it’s probably
People reading online not to come during this time because of the Burning Season I mean when we get to the top we’ll be able to look down over chai and see how bad the pollution actually is but either way it feels like we stalling these stairs so 306 stairs let’s go got to
Burn off that [Applause] Sausage So the white elephant is really significant this whole place was built because of a relic of Buddha’s shoulder bone which was carried here by a white elephant the elephant arrived here trumpeted three times and then died peacefully and they figured here was the place to build a temple towards the
Relic so the white elephant’s really important inti culture and especially around dop you’re going to see a lot of elephants [Applause] if you’re looking around any 10o Island you’re going to see a lot of bells the bells are a significant part of Buddism and for example on our moan we have monks come around to announce the morning and evening ceremonies and they also come around with a collection bow
If anyone wishes to donate the sound of the Bell actually is meant to bring peace towards all beings including those in hell so I could do have a bit of That [Applause] last time we were here I mean you could see for miles and miles but right now it’s feeling very hazy barely see anything it’s like you’re in one big cloud it’s such a clear day I mean you should be able to see them for Miles I
Mean it you can see very faintly in the distance and I mean it’s mad how high up we are I didn’t realize just how high the temple actually is in the Mountain I can hear your Voice this monk statue is so Realistic I can hear You I can hear you I can hear your voice Like Quast 9 and the tribes are coming the tourists are coming come by 8 they open at 5 actually so come at 5 if you could stomach it we didn’t but come as early as you Can sausage uh Annie oh yeah okay so while Dom got sausage I’ve opted for some sweet corn it’s in some juice I I’m assuming it’s sweet corn juice cuz that’s exactly what it tastes like but it looks kind of like milk but it’s very sweet it’s very fresh
20 BS so maybe like 50p and that’s in like Prime tourist area spot nice aloy Mac mhm aloy oh that’s the corn holder oh so when one is feeling peckish you can’t get it in yeah but I’m just scared it’s going to fall wood it’s in there now that’s
It the bike has facilities we just come up the road slightly to do poy where we’re going to RAB a coffee and I think there’s a little village here to explore so before the tourists get here because everyone comes on tours and you can see that all the tours are just arrived at
Doy t literally like 5 minutes down the road so they’ll probably be here very soon you can see all the Market vendors just patiently waiting for everyone to get here cuz it’s totally dead here right now we’re the only motorbike we couldn’t find the parking because of
That normally you just follow where the bikes are but here we’re the first one I mean there’s a clear sign that says motorcycle parking yeah there is a clear sign but we came from the other direction there another sign over there which says mo motorcycle parking right
So it looks like to drive along there so I rode along there and then somehow made it here we found It boiled blood do you do you want to get that one D boiled blood you’d obviously assume like when you when it’s priced like this so this one’s 3 350 bu you assume that you know this not negotiable but while we were there just looking cuz me and I
Overheard um there were some foreign customers that she was talking to and then there was a tie lady and they were talking now luckily my level is very basic conversation so I can understand it and basically the lady was saying what’s the actual price that’s what she
Asked in T and then she was like oh these are 100 and then she asked about something else how much it was and then she said this is the actual price and then she bought it and then as she left I said yeah I’d like I’d like this
Please and she went oh for you sir special price 200 and then I smiled at her and I you know responded in TI well actually it’s 100 isn’t it and then she laughed oh it’s speak TI it was like literally two seconds before within two seconds so she
In directly in front of me she’d said to this woman it’s actually 100 bu if you want it if you want to get the best price is probably best to know tie numbers because I don’t know they are less likely to rip you off if you know
Tai because they assume that maybe you live here you’re you know a bit more about Thailand so learn the numbers actually really easy to learn Emma’s Fluent at the moment we’re in the doo tribal Village and there’s shops everywhere it seems to be the main thing that’s in the tribal Villages there the tribe is selling certain things they make a lot of them so there’s lots of dried fruits really good nuts we just sampled and
Bought um lots of bags woven things scarves hats you’ll find it all here yeah the lady called me out she gave me a s i I did refuse the s but then she’s like oh no please try my nuts I well to be fair they were very good they’re very
Good nuts she was very friendly what are you doing trying nuts almond oh yeah a fresh almond sample I need bigger one 200 small 100 yeah very nice a different Flav yeah that you can eat we get some oh she’s got me the mango is really nice as well yeah mine go good
Too and I have bean here you can put here be some yeah 100 but same price yeah you can buy need together mango mango mango one mang it and you want to try wine from here oh it’s okay we we bought wine already but this friend you know this one make only
Here why all sweet but very nice yeah you make here yeah make here my Village can try uh 10% oh yeah not for me thank you it’s try what’s it uh mango what is it just mango yeah mango mango and rice rice yeah rice rice and mango
Yeah nothing else only mango and rice yeah okay a decent sausage a decent nut yeah back down down towards do people weren’t seemingly as friendly when we went to a coffee shop I don’t know if they’ve got maybe a stigma against tourists they’re dealing with just Ste in the
Just stepped in wet cement all the cement’s wet not a cone inside maybe they think people have common sense unlike me I in it as well it’s very empty I’m surprised how is normally these tribal villagers got a lot of people but still relatively early yes we just paid 20 bar each to
Get into the flower Park and also there’s a waterfall so there is an entrance fee it’s not exactly obvious but there’s a guy sitting there and trust me if you walk by him he’ll tell you 20 bar I think I think it’s worth 20 bar it’s very pretty already I wish I keep my flowers like this right now across changai and just Northern Thailand in general it seems to be the flower season because Winter’s coming to an end I think the flowers are just totally in full bloom and there’s lots of flower festivals going on but
Here they have this flower garden which I think is all year round it’s very pretty it smells very fresh and nice it’s a bit different from the pollution down in the city We’ve come to the top of the hill tribe where there is this Cafe and it’s absolutely beautiful there’s all these Tory Gates on the stairs there’s a waterfall there’s all these camping chairs massive bamboo trees it’s absolutely lovely just going to have a coffee and end the video here I think
Because because our battery is dying and we don’t have a long left on the battery time so you do come to this Cafe don’t don’t walk over there it doesn’t freeze I stepped over there and I thought I was going to fall through oh no so I thought
I’d stick to land of soil I did wonder why you that over here and not over there but I mean I thought it’d be nice for the trade cuz they’ve got this sort of cloth I think it’s worth coming up here to the doo trbal Village because in
M Jam there wasn’t that much going on in comparison to here I know there’s not maybe a lot to do but it’s very nice being here everyone’s really friendly there’s lots of little shops selling the same sort of things I got a little bracelet there are some hiking trails as
Well so you can do that if you wish oh right yeah there’s hiking trails there’s the waterfall which isn’t massive but it’s just very nice especially in this coffee shop I’d come alone for this coffee shop worth the 20 part entrance fee it’s very nice the climate’s a lot
Cooler here the weather is really great today and we’re escaping from all the pollution down in the city so highly recommend coming to this um tribal Village anyway I hope you enjoyed the video if you did let us know in the comments and also I mean we’re bouncing
Off ideas every week of videos that we want to make but also be great to hear from you so if there’s any anything you want to see anything you want to know somewhere you’d like us to go or you think maybe someone has hasn’t been before that you’d like to see let us
Know because we don’t know unless you tell us yeah we’re trying to do really frequent videos right now and trying to keep it up we’ve got lots of ideas um tagm and Northern Thailand has a lot going on tomorrow we’re heading to Pi um on a bike trip which should be really
Good Pi is well on the Mayon song loop we’re going to do we’re doing our next video you’ll be seeing is the is the mayong song Loop and our first stop will be pie so see you there yeah see you in pie bye quick quick quick quick it’s about to
Die the who the battery dies here’s D is it really a mountain video on always away without a swing shot oh no Oh no you’re going to break it back back back he’s going to break it oh no they won’t have us back again
In this video we jump on a motorbike and head into the mountains towards Wat Pra That Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai’s most famous mountain temple. You can’t miss this iconic temple on a trip to Northern Thailand. It’s the perfect day trip from the city of Chiang Mai, only half an hour from the center. The epic winding roads to the mountain top make for the perfect adventure!

What a beautiful country. I love seeing the scenery.
Beautiful!
Though I’m starting to think I wouldn’t be able to eat anything there! (I’m allergic to everything due to chronic illness!)
Soy dogs are just feral dogs? Are they in the cities as well?
Jealous of that weather and scenery, stuck here in bed with snow and cold. Yuck. I’m enjoying your videos, I’m bed bound so I have to travel vicariously through others!
I'd be interested in seeing Thai blacksmiths and knife makers if you ever come across them. I'm an avid collector and would love to see their skill and quality.
Your shoe print is forever on that street now till they repave again lol😂
The flower garden looks so pretty! Not so sure about the boiled blood though. I’d go for the mango and almonds! Loving the videos, the colours were really popping in this one. Hope the smoke dies down soon!
Another great vid! This one brings back some happy memories for me! They have some great sausages in Northern Thailand – Chaing Mai sausage is my favorite. Not sure about the boiled blood, that could be a mistranslation. I remember seeing “Brain Cord” on a menu and it turned out to be Bean Curd! With regard to Percy peeing everywhere he is probably marking his territory – you said before that he has never had a garden – he probably wants the soi dogs to know who’s boss! He obviously loves Dom if he is peeing all over his boots – or maybe he just loves the smell of David Beckham!
That café is so pretty 😍 I haven't been up Doi Suthep since 2017 when I took a friend to see the Sakura in the Hmong village there but it's one of those must see spots if you're a first time visitor here, definitely better to go early morning when it's quiet and cooler 😊
The swing!! Love it 😅😂
Having a rough time, so very grateful for the vid. Thank you.
super vid! and very informative
Good old David Beckham 😂
I love your videos and recent are fantastic, the quality of the video is amazing! I would love to see on map where in Thailand are places you talk about, that would help my dumb brain 🙂 and when spicy Thai food review? Xd love from Poland ❤️
Great and beautiful video – who is related to Chris
Another interesting trip into the local life of the people. My interest is in the culture, natural beauty and fauna of the country.
hi, do you need an international driving license to rent motorbike around chiang mai?
