    Venetian cuisine reflects the richness of the lagoon’s seafood, as well as historical ties to various cultures of East and West. Dishes such as risotto, polenta and seafood are an integral part of the Venetian table.

    Venice is car-free and the main means of transportation are water vehicles such as gondolas, vaporetto (water buses) and private boats, which gives the city its special charm. The streets of Venice are an amazing interweaving of history, culture and architecture, where every turn and bridge hides a story.

    Venetian streets, or “calles” as they are often called, stretch between the canals, creating a unique urban environment that has no analogues in the world. They are narrow and winding, with stone pavements leading to open squares called campos, where there are cafes, shops and restaurants.

    The most famous promenade is the Riva degli Schiavoni, which stretches along the southern coast of the island with magnificent views of the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore and the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute.

    One of the characteristic features of Venetian streets are the numerous bridges crossing the canals. The most famous of them is the Rialto Bridge, the oldest of the four bridges spanning the Grand Canal.

    The streets of Venice are also famous for their shops and ateliers, selling everything from haute couture to traditional Venetian masks and Murano glass.
