Into the Clouds: Climbing Chamonix’s Via Ferrata Des Evettes
Bonjour we are high in the Alps above shaman on what is supposed to be our rest day but Adam’s grand plan for the day is to do the Via Fara Des aets which he claims is supposed to be pretty easy with spectacular views but you and I
Both know that Adam’s idea of easy is far from the San person’s idea of easy so wish me luck Feel Brea in and go go You got it kind of eerie climbing in this fog isn’t it oh it’s so cool Wow that fog is really rolling through that F kind eer so Eerie you are just hanging off that Cliff face right now see the sun trying to poke Through Wow this is so cool with the sun trying to peek through this is so gorgeous up here oh man even with the clouds yeah it just feels like you’re in a different world well I did tell Elise this was easy and it’s not too strenuous but I did not
Mention this sketchy little Bridge hopefully she’ll be all right with it whoa wait what I’m not a tight R Walker come on this is tight no no no no no this is not that chill honestly it doesn’t look it’s way more sketchy than I thought it would
Be I just don’t have that much balance balance is not a gift I have been blessed with you got it Le my legs are shaking so hard right now you got it you got it come on you a lot of appreciation for all those people that do this without a v
I don’t think I was meant to be a tight RPP Walker that is for sure it’s kind of cool it’s called the letter box why is it call the letter box I guess cuz it looks like a French letter box what the letters we’re really in the cloud bank now at
These oh no all the way up in the clouds do you think that it’ll go away I don’t know this is heavy man you only see about 30 ft it’s kind of eerie this is getting pretty cool waa there you are oh my gosh yeah what are you supposed to do like a
Le back yeah it’s a layback good job all right Stars run the be careful huh the cloud has made this very SL right now I know my feet keep definitely slipping off these things wow up here we’re all alone and we will learn to oh boy here’s the real
Bridge this is going to be gnarly you guys this is sketchy wow whoa look at all that down there this is too crazy holy crap this thing is so gnarly hope you can see how much it’s shaking this is not chill he’s shaking so muching so I just really hope that
They’ve tested and retested and tested again for this bridge well you might not want to look at that broken wire on your left coming up stop it no oh my goodness that is not confidence no it does not oh man I am bouncing all over the place you are you’re doing good
Though oh Lord Okay well it turned out that the Viera was the safest thing we did scrambling around on these wet rocks at the top got me a actual injury these slick rocks are not messing around no fortunately we did bring Neosporin so maybe that’ll help T assential well I definitely lost a a
Good chunk of skin and a lot of blood a lot of blood gross this is the Alps for you this is it sun was predicted and if it had been sunny we would have had the most epic views behind us right now weather forecast was like yeah 100% chance of
Sun just clouds just CL but we got some sun earlier fortunately so you could see kind of what we would have been looking at yeah and I mean I still thought the Vado was really cool oh my God those bridges were really Bridges were awesome definitely I would come back and do this
Again if we knew there was going to be sun but I guess you never know yeah I would actually recommend this if you’re not afraid of heights too much that bridge I’m not afraid of heights at all and I was a little queasy on that bridge
Cuz it was just so wobbly and scary well and then the one the one cable that had broken off that did not really make me feel very good at all anyway I hope you guys love this one hope you had fun with us lots more to
Come ahead let us know what you think and see you next time out on the Alpine Trails the Alps are so crazy 1 second you are covered in clouds and 2 seconds later you have these beautiful views in front of you I just don’t understand Cler
100% chance of sun they said. Mont Blanc will look glorious they said. They were wrong. So wrong.
One supposedly sunny day in Chamonix, we set out on the Via Ferrata des Evettes (Via Ferrata des Evettes – La Flégère Chamonix-Mont-Blanc), which is a hiking and via ferrata route known as having some of the most spectacular views of Mont Blanc in the entire Chamonix area. Welp, as we all know, conditions in the alps can change rapidly, and today was an excellent example of this. Despite getting caught in a massive chilly fog, this was still an awesome day of hiking, adventuring, and it is one via ferrata we know will be spectacular on a clear day!

Ha! That was awesome! I was terrified and could hardly wait to do that one all at the same time! Add that one to the list.
I’m just watching this now – are you in Europe now or is this video from last year’s trip?
Loved the scrapes and blood on the keg – welcome to my world. All my friends are used to me coming back from hikes / scrambles with blood coming out from somewhere haha
Keep in touch guys – you are my US family!
That looks like so much fun! Thanks for sharing! You two produce the best couples' outdoor adventure videos!
Such a beautiful area! That tight rope was super scary. I don't know how you guys do this!
Another super entertainment video! Thanks!
Amazing and terrifying! Great video guys!
What a neat climb atmosphere!
I’ll add it to my VF Bucket List!
TIP: You can just turn and go sideways on the tightrope section… super simple bc your feet aren’t parallel to the line (it makes you facing the upper wire and also looking at the rock face). You guys definitely did it the hard way. When you do a sideways walk across it- it’s quicker and easier. I love to hook off with my shorty and free hang on the bridges! Nothing better than a fun Via Ferrata!!!
Ah you must have been holding out on this footage from last year for some reason. Great video as always. 🙂
I'm in love with via ferrata videos. The Rockies up here in Alberta are still cold and I'm dreaming of summer adventures as I work. Thanks for the awesome video!
i have to say i really love your music. the best music to go with your videos ❤
Love the vía ferrata videos! Thanks for not doing the bobble head helmet cam stuff!😂
Shame about the clouds, what a beautiful place.
Adam & Elise, don’t you know Europeans have different classifications for sunny weather events? There’s sunny with snow, sunny with rain and sunny with all the above. But sunny, as most of us in So. Cal. would understand, doesn’t really exits in Europe.
Perhaps on a typical sunny day Vis Ferrata Des Evettes would be considered a moderate climb however, add poor visibility & wet conditions to the mix and you have a high adrenaline activity.
Climbing on wet rock & steel cables is dangerous all the way around. Not only are the rocks & cables extremely slippery but the minimal, fall prevention equipment can respond differently to inclement weather. It’s tricky and requires special finesse. Yet, you guys rose to the occasion once again (mostly safe) and entertained us along the way. Great work!
Great videography!
Not trying that cable bridge. Nope.
That is stunning scenery, I like you day off.
This is surreal and so beautiful. I find myself holding my breath through most of your videos, and always pray for your safety. The challenges you two take on and the way you support each other is unmatched and so inspiring. Thank you for yet another amazing video!
So, you've kept this gem secret since last summer! Wow, that was a difficult one – and the weather did not make it easier or safer either… Looking forward to seeing more of this stuff from the Alps this summer!
Spectacular video as always. "I forgot to tell Elise about the sketchy bridge" – Adam. Wow what an amazing and terrifying video. I am nervous watching you guys do this. I wrote this before the broken wire part, Yikes.
such a great video! im newly obsessed with these! just restarted bouldering and want to start climbing on higher walls and also in the mountains and do these via ferrata routes oh damn! this calls me!
Those bridges! I would have cried like a baby in the middle and be mad at the same time 😅 is the rope you have clipped on strong enough in case you slip? Trying to figure out where to go this summer. The Alps or Dolomites again, but another area…that little bird at the end vanishing in the mist❤
Wow! That was super intense climbing and cable bridge crossing. That made my legs queazy just seeing those heights.
Those few views of the peaks looked amazing! I have to agree with several of the other folks commenting..those bridges would be a hard no for me…at least not without a diaper, and possibly several spares….. 😉
Brilliant Via Ferrata Movie! I hiked up to the summit of Mt Blanc by the Bossons Glacier & Grand Mulets Route some years ago & also walked up to the Aiguile du Midi from Montenvers by the mer de Glace. Both epic hikes without too much technical difficulty apart from equipment needs such as crampons & ice-axe + 11mm rope & climbing partner! Chamonix is Awesome! Way to Go!
Do you have a working email? I tried your listed one. Ours is on our page if you do want to give us yours and not here 🙂
Breathtaking! Cheers to you both for always giving the best videos on your trips and adventures!
Never!!!
❤ GR8 VID ~ LOVED IT ❤
That's NOT what I call a bridge!
I thought I'll just watch this episode, but then after seeing the sketchy " bridges " you conquered, i felt the need to say, my goodness, that is frightening. Elise is a trooper for taking on these challenges, and Adam deserves 8:45 . Fun to watch, but not for me
Beilliant. We have a tree park in the mountains not far from there we live. There are climbs marked with colours like ski pistes. Red is a bit like the ones you did. If you slip you hang and you need a very strong upper body to pull yourself up. I did that twice and getting out of trouble was not fun. You guys rock.
