    I live in Ukraine any dislikes so far no no offense they know that what makes Philippines any different what has been like a pleasant surprise for you hi what’s your name uh Jason and where are you from uh Canada from near Toronto nice and what brings you down here to

    The Philippines uh I’ve been traveling around southeast Asia so uh basically I was in uh Vietnam Thailand Malaysia and now I’m in the Philippines so just um I went over to palan to uh check out Alo and um so now I’m just transferring through I’m in C City right now I’m

    Going on to Boh for some more travel how long have you been here um in the Philippines probably I guess a week or so okay what has been like a pleasant surprise for you here so far um I guess the the nature it’s extremely beautiful like it’s um tropical climate but really

    Some of the places especially palan the nature is just incredible it’s beautiful right yeah very was it difficult to get there expensive can you share any details about that um little bit tricky just because you have to take a little mini bus all the way to the north to ELO

    It’s 5 hours and then accommodation is tricky there because you really need to book in advance if you want something decent okay um so I think water quality is kind of low there and um food was okay well it wasn’t bad really but it is

    Kind of out of the way I see so obviously well experienced and traveled within the Southeast Asian countries what makes Philippines any different can you give us any comparisons or I just think it’s more beautiful than some of these other countries just because a lot of the islands are kind of untouched and

    Still very natural so if you go to Thailand it’s uh very developed uh things are very easy and convenient but um it’s just not the same untouch nature that you see here in the Philippines would you say it’s more authentic in the Philippines then yeah yeah more

    Authentic like if you want to travel it’s going to be a bit more difficult we off the beaten path but um it’s really uh it’s worth it because get to see nature that there’s not a lot of tourists that have been to some of these places perhaps yeah okay any dating are

    You single are you married anything uh single but uh I have a strange story I live in Ukraine oh you live in Ukraine that’s so I’ve been an English teacher there for 15 years now and um I’m from Canada but I live there and right now it’s just like Canada it’s extremely

    Cold yeah so it’s good for me to be here southeast Asia got it any advice for someone that’s never been to Southeast Asia or the Philippines what would you tell them yeah well that’s a good question I would say probably go to a place like Thailand first maybe if

    You’re not a good traveler just you’re not well traveled just because it’s easier in terms of uh infrastructure everything’s laid out it’s quite smooth here what’s nice is the English level’s amazing really here so you can do anything without problems but uh yeah you you have to be prepared like a lot

    Of these um hotels I saw in Elo that I was booking the ratings were really low like between 5 and seven on booking.com and if you look at a lot of the complaints there A lot of times it’s people that are come from coming from Europe or America or Canada and they’ve

    Never seen like they don’t understand how rural the Philippines are when you get out there and how basically things are pretty basic like the hotels and it’s not the same level of comfort or whatever so you got to be prepared for the Philippines to kind of rough it a little bit but

    It’s worth it people here are extremely helpful and nice so uh people often say the highlights are people and nature I guess in thank you so much for your time I appreciate it yeah hi what’s your name uh my name is Aro and where are you from

    Burning Season so I decid to come here and I’m pretty satisfied about my experience so what has been a pleasant surprise about the Philippines for you uh about the Philippines the kindness of the people you know all the people say they are kind it’s not perfect but mostly

    They are they are very kind very open mind you can talk with them me I’m pretty introvert and uh I have less difficulty to talk in the street with people you know okay any dislikes so far something that you don’t really like about the Philippines honestly the food

    I don’t like so much the food yeah I much prefer the Thai food but yeah if you go in the good shop in the good restaurant you can have good food in the Philippines but uh the street food in the Philippines is not so good yeah and

    Uh you said you came here to meet someone did you meet her what’s your relationship status tell me a bit about dating in the Philippines so I meet my wife in uh here in seu city and uh I find my relationship and I’m pretty happy uh before I was with a tiger but

    Uh it’s not the same culture you know I don’t know if you lived it but they are not Catholic so it’s bit different in the mindset and I in the cultural side I am close closer from the Filipino people you know so it’s easier to understand is it easier to

    Communicate with your wife yeah English English uh we talk in English it’s easy and In tha In tha Shay I had a girlfriend Tha girlfriend and she didn’t speak so good English here speak uh fluently English so it’s easier to communicate okay Sol the problem too that’s fantastic um would you stay here

    Long term do you think you’re going to live here or you going to go back to France what are you honestly I’m passionate about uh travel so I think uh I will launch my vlogging Channel soon uh because I work online since a long time on YouTube but now I want to change

    Like like you I want to change my life and to to try to to travel and to vlog to share the culture but in in Southwest Asia I stay in Southwest Asia because I love the culture of Asian people I understand so you mentioned do you have

    A YouTube channel right now you wanted no I have nothing because but before I had uh I monetized three YouTube channel uh but in French you know so it’s different it’s not um travel Chanel but no I want to change I really want to leave my conf zone to try to launch myel

    For someone that’s never been to the Philippines what would you tell them um just don’t judge the Philippines the first day wait a bit and be open mind and wait wait a bit uh now after eight month in the Philippines I I appreciate more the country than the first month

    Compare to to to Brazil and South America it’s different yeah I wanted to travel to Brazil but I’m always a little hesitant I hear some you know stories so yeah it’s uh not always good are you single are you dating anybody I’m dating okay so have you been on any dates with any

    Filipinas no I two 3 years ago online been uh over since from man been here on holiday haven’t been there also so it’s like it’s better than man it’s the first time experience for both of you guys enjoying okay because Mommy La is a bit crisp which traffic is worse Manila

    To the Philippines well to be quick uh I was visiting in March well February 2020 M and when I went to go back home to New Orleans uh I looked on the news and they said the airport was shut down for 6 months and I thought well I guess I’m

    Staying here okay and what do you like about the Philippines okay so this is something that’s hard to describe if you’ve never been here before but if you’re from a first world country it might make a little bit sense so third world VI so if you’re from a first world country

    You know America Canada UK everything is nice and everything’s organized and everything is it works but when you when you come to the Philippines right isn’t there a r country no no offense they know that uh the fact that not everything is perfect is what makes it more interesting okay you know awesome

    That does sound interesting to me uh what has been like a pleasant surprise for you coming here okay so this is probably something that you hear all the time but people are extremely friendly m almost too friendly I’m I’m called Sir here more than I’ve ever been called

    Anywhere else sir anything I was going to say do you feel like a sir you seem kind of young but you feel more respected here I don’t like it when the people that are older than me tell me sir it makes me feel weird I wish they

    Would just you know call me something else but that’s the only part that’s kind of weird but everything else is cool when they call you sir okay do you think you’ll live here permanently do you have any plans on going back to the US

    Any I would go back to visit M but as far as everything goes you know the whole third world Vibe things I talked about earlier makes it it makes it an attractive place to stay so if I went back it would be just for a visit I

    To my mind what about dating I know like women in Miami have a very high standard when it comes to dating guys have you dated anybody here talk to any women what’s that like I mean I think I think girls have a high standard everywhere depends on what your goals are dating um

      All of them are handsome, I like the last guy, very cute and handsome, and nice eyes. The 2nd guy actually has a youtube channel already, he shared contents with his wife, not sure why he didn't share it, but yea, so far he's producing great contents in his channel, but the first, most especially the last guy interviewed are just mmmm… lovely.

      i been to unpopular mountains in rizal nobody there just a handful of locals living in nipa huts. i climb through mountain jungles, loose soil, muds, thorny vines my friends cousin who lives there guided us and climb on a tree sticking out of a cliff 90 degree drop off higher than sky scrapers in bgc just to get the orchids growing on top of that tree then went down came out of that jungle bloodied and bruised. you can't just go through where we went through without a jungle bolo or machete. no foot path no clear path what so ever. a hundred meters in the jungle you'll get lost. everybody was puking from exhaustion and from these delicious nuts scattered on the jungle ground except me coz they ate too much and it was said to be medicinal but can be poisonous if eaten too much. loved the experience. i don't understand these foreigners who complain about accessibility to these natural beauty. for me the summit was magnificent looking at the entire lake where taal volcano sits right at the center of the lake from a more further and higher secret view point not seen from the famous tagaytay was even more satisfying compared to a couple of jeepney ride to the top of tagaytay. i thoroughly enjoyed the experience. slipped and fell rolling down the loose soil in the jungle. crossed raging rivers with the water buffalos, saw monkeys jumping from tree to another, saw tiny filipino wild boars from afar though coz they attack people, saw the majestic toucan with it's big and long bright red beak circling us 100 meters above. never seen anybody but us after we crossed the river and in through the jungle at the foot of the mountain. i wouldn't want an airconditioned suv ride on an immaculate pavement to get there! western people complain too much they want to touch the lime mountain walls through a window from their airconditioned vans they want the chocolate hills on a silver platter brought to them by elegantly dressed bell boys! well, good luck on your whale shark experience 3hr wait as the 3000th tourist waiting on line too bad it doesn't fit on a vending machine this is not tokyo! strange no complains from the same western tourist who went through an exhausting hike from mt fuji. in the Philippines they sleep through the 5hr journey, through the jungles and mountain and coastlines waking up every now and then from the bumpy unpaved puddled mud roads to complain!

      After a 9 year absence from The Philippines and 5 subsequent trips (1st visit Jan '00) my biggest surprise was how costly the accommodation had become and the cost of eating at certain restaurants. I still adore the place though. Yes Thai cuisine and its infrastructure is better, but it's not The Philippines ❤

      😂 Great video Alex. Regards from Australia. I have been there 4 times and should be back again this year. Leaving there in November after a 5 week stay was one of the hardest things I have done.

      lol Cole has no clue about America. I am a proud american and live in California. The structure and foundation of our rich country is falling apart in front of us. Homelessness is at a all time high. No consequences in stealing so there are far more crimes here. Rent is out of control and people are working 2 or 3 jobs to survive daily. Not sure why people call Philippines a 3rd world country when there are cities like BGC and Makati. 3rd world countries wont have that. Philippines is a DEVELOPING COUNTRY. I been to Philippines and consider safer to live there than in California.

      Great video and interviews, Alex. I am planning my first to the Philippines soon after returning from a 3 weeks stay in Thailand. I enjoy watching your videos to learn about the local culture and mindset of the Filipino people and their views on foreigners visiting and living in the Philippines. Keep up your informative videos. They are extremely helpful for travelers interested in the Philippines.

      cole's answers make sense to me. maybe the world needs to redefine what 'first world' countries are. sometimes it doesnt help to be called 'first' if it feels like being left behind.

      I didn't like Salvador's answer that girls have a high standard everywhere, I'm also from the US, and I can say that many american women have not only high standards but unrealistically high standards and even boast about how they'll never settle!!!
      Meanwhile ther are some women in the Philipines who probably actually undervalue themselves and a lot of women who are at least reaonable in their expectations. So I'm not sure what's wrong with him, maybe he just doesn't date enough to know the difference but he didn't really answer your question direcetly when you asked him if he'd dated anyone in the Filipines.
