Is THIS The FUTURE Of MUSEUMS – Vanlife France Pt 15
In this video I get scared as a museum comes to life divine intervention comes to my rescue try try it and Stu tries to Google translate welcome to the channel that’s Harry or camper van and that’s me Jane and here’s Stu and we love to share with you our vanlife adventures
You know in Van life when you sometimes find a place where time stands still and this spot in the S Valley hits that brief as the Autumn sun lights up the landscape is a great parkour it’s a 10 out 10 parkour for me we’re all on our
Own which I’m surprised about cuz it’s such a lovely place I think fishing may come down during the day and that it was really nice stuff I I work a couple of times you night I’ve been bitten on me foot by I don’t know what a lion that’s what it feels
Like uh midies or knuts or mosquitoes or something was raining last night and there was lightning as well so I had to get up and shut the vents and switch the fan off cuz I didn’t want the water come in but then it cleared so I got up and
Open the vence and Chef cuz he was so bling humid last night really easy parking it’s not being difficult to find a place we had been told this but yeah until you come and experience it yourself you I think we probably need to push ourselves to stay a bit more in the
Spots or in towns and all That they’ve lost their dog but he’s just hiding I don’t know if other people have this problem but we have this drawer well you don’t have a problem I I have a problem with this you problem there’s nothing wrong with it I get really stressed trying to fit they do fit in but they fit in easily so that
Drawer well that cupboard is coverboard it just you got no patience no you’re right I ended up oh God you’re never going to be able to hear that I end up trying to shove everything in and squash the door shut this is why I’d never coat with a smaller van those are covered
Space no we have but that cupboard is always a bloody pain to put away it’s a pain if you haven’t got patience yeah that’s to the back jugs there Kettle there simples what else what else do you need Didn’t get to watch my Rugby last night well it took reckoned about one and a half gigabyte to watch the first time so that’s blown my dream about watching all the rugby while I’m here um it’s a lovely park up really quiet just people walking around Cy fishing walking just
Enjoying the area which is always nice to see we’re just going to have a look at another Park of actually it’s only 10 minutes away from where we were last night but we may come back to it we’re can to have a quiet day uh we’re a bit
Frazzled by the end of yesterday I was trying to talk my 93y old mother through a FaceTime problem that she was having she was trying to talk to her friend in Canada um and I presume she found her because I could hear the FaceTime ringing and then she just disappeared
Off the phone and never came back so but you can do that you’re allowed to do that when you’re 93 so this that’s a park up possibly for tonight that looks really nice there’s a Mot home there at the moment a place called Pon I think it is
Or Peron in the S Valley and it’s had its fair share of uh disasters over the years of being destroyed and it was burned and looted by the Vikings and uh destroyed by the Germans in 1870 I think and then it had the first world war and the Second World
War uh like a lot of places around this area anyway Pon I think it’s pronounced is twinned with Blackburn of all places and it’s one of the earliest examples of twinning and it it’s I think it’s the the first twinning Town back in 19 1919 but the first official twinning was 1920
So it’s I think it’s the first unofficial one and it was because a lot of men from Blackburn fought in the War including the then may of Blackburn uh whose son his son fought in it and fortunately was killed and in 1924 they built a little bridge I think it’s called Leon du
Blackburn apparently in Blackburn there’s a road that’s called a pyron cresant you always think that twinning of cities or towns was quite new relatively new’ 70s or 80s but actually it dates back to the 1920s you got your bridge I did so what was that building Hotel I guess
We make our way through the back of the town to the Castle the castle Museum really has two parts to the Museum and the first part I Out Lines the early history which we both really enjoyed so in 1413 to 1422 Henry V of England and his army passed through PR on their way to the Battle of ainor it has an informative video that Maps its historical Events the second part has lots of artifacts that stew didn’t like quite as Much it’s a castle and a museum Stu wasn’t that Keen on it I must say they had a fe feature in the museum that I’ve never seen before I’m not saying they’re not out there I’ve just never seen them before to put it mly it scared the Living Daylights out
Of me that’s the nice way to put it you scan a a barcode or a QR code and then suddenly before you know it the uniform comes to life and uh it’s really well Done I stand here before you to tell you about my last moments on the day I died I’m in a trench near the all Junction line I’m looking at the photo of my wife I stand here before you to tell you about the last moments of the day I Died I’m in a trench time passes so slow what the hell is that you weren’t that Keen on it were you I’m not great with just static objects just St aot static object and some of the displays didn’t digital displays weren’t working which was a bit frustrating when you’re trying to try to
Change language and also the 30 minute film of the song which I was looking forward to was only in French so that was a shame would been even if they have had subtitles it would have been good after this we head for a park for night spot at Clary
Su it was on a park for nights um but it’s got a big uh description from what looks like to be the local Authority Council whatever they’re called here saying that they welcome visitors to stay and park on this place so that they’ve actually put it themselves by
The looks of it on part for night it looks like a bit of a na Reserve there some walks that Jane doesn’t want to go on but no we are going but um it’s beautiful it’s not far from the last site so the whole valley here the Valley of the the Som Canal
He’s quite beautiful isn’t it very picturesque isn’t it it is very relaxed chilled I’d say cup of tea got some lunch have yesterday’s baguette yeah we’re a baguette behind we’re a baguette behind on day so it’s not as good as it is on the first day so we haven’t bought
A baguette today so we’re going to go back into baguette world tomorrow we need to eat a whole baguette today that’s okay I can do that but it’s 2:00 so it’s always two time just going have a chill day just relax day yeah and I’ll go for a walk no
I’ll come with you no I don’t want you to go with me if you’re going to be miserable like a little child dragging your knuckles behind you want that as long as it’s flat walk yes it’s not the bloody Canal okay canals don’t go up B he says let’s have lunch before it
Gets it’s almost gone past 2 o00 which I hate having a late lunch but got to do it cuz I got to go on my walk oh God thankfully divine intervention steps in and the walk is off while stew is optimistic it’s now much too muddy and then just as
Quickly we were just watching something we had to turn it off cuz we couldn’t hear it of course what we watching while we’re in the Sun the battle of the sun oh got a little bit of Thunder as well just to add to the Ambiance the Ambiance
Here despite the Sun the weather Gods step in yet again and juice succumbs to the inevitable and then 5 minutes later back so tonight we’re just going to have a fet salad but with potatoes but I ended up seeing these little guys cheese and leak so just going to heat them up
In the rid monkey we’ decided you’ve got to eat less on this trip we’re starting to both balloon out doesn’t look do It start of the doet no it’s tomorrow oh tomorrow nice it’s light it’s low fat pastry and cheese should we just discuss our proding habits what since we come to France yes yeah you need to stop snacking that’s what you need I agree it’s got our hand there a
Twix a day keep Stuart happy Twix a day a baguette a day Brie yeah that’s not that’s not healthy we need to have a yeah well it’s time for us to move on and we’ve decided to head back towards the coast and then along the coastline
Of Normandy which is just a few hours away that was quite a peaceful night last night sort of we had a it was a cooler night because the the torrential rain late afternoon early evening yeah we went to bed with the duv on well I
Did for the first time on the trip I think we didn’t use the fans last night either so we didn’t feel as I need the fans so it was definitely cooler last night so it cleared the air I think the temperatures cre back it’s interesting there been a few places
Now where just the local community encourage you as like I said he was on parite as I said earlier it’s just an interesting way all they’ve got all they’ve done is produced a car park and some facilities in as much as rubbish bins and bottle bins and that’s all you
Need uh but then you need respect there was probably about four or five Vans here there’s probably about three left we’re just about to go now probably wouldn’t stay here more than 24 hours they haven’t got a limitation sign off In fairness to them I think you you
Probably wouldn’t stay in the area long anyway but it’s just about uh you know respecting the area so it’s interesting how it’s done over here and why couldn’t this be done over in the UK but it needs to be done not just in spot play me me
More more more than one just the one isolated place we we’ve been to Helmsley up in Yorkshire and uh that was a sort of a similar place but then they he got he got cancelled basically they stopped people doing it I think it was a bit
Abused you know they say 12 fans there was more than 12 and then there were people were dumping waste but but you know perhaps they didn’t have enough facilities there but that’s you know you’re always going to get unfortunately you’re always going to get people who are going to abuse situation but they
Need to be dealt with I’ll be honest with you they need to be dealt with and now the exceptions not the rule most the puddles have Gone Do you enjoy our videos if so please drop us a comment hit that like And subscribe Button as that really makes a difference and it’s free for you to [Applause] do always makes me laugh when I recognize where we’ be not through the landscape but by people’s Gardens and the roundabouts the flowers and plants and grasses on the roundabouts that’s how I know we’ve been there Before 400 m enter the roundabout and take the fourth exit on to at25 was going to be right we been I think this is in amnia and we assume it’s a water tower but let us know in the comments but it’s pretty imposing on the skyline I’m certainly not going to try and pronounce that road and it be pleased to know that that is pronounced piercing and stew promises to stop and feed my new found passion for coffee we 48 minutes from where the marina so we’ll have this quickly then we’ll get
Um get some food yeah more food well no we need two enough what would you like for to we said what do we say um we were going to have salad again Ali you could say Des desol what does that me sorry I’m try try it no it’s not a
Problem Oh God how good’s that we’ve had such a laugh with some of the with some French people haven’t we what trying to get to understand what we’re saying no with Google translate like having a little conversation no words oh prob like quite a few we got a little biscuit
Sugar oh my God look at that glass lovely oh is the glass cold or is it just made it look like that no it’s a frosty GL yeah cuz that’s that’s not Frost up milk that’s just milk and coffee that’s a flat white that’s a flat white that is listen you you’ve never
Had a CUPE in your life it’s flat it’s white well you to blow in blow some bubbles in it she’s just had that scen moment where you go did I lock the lamp we’re at Cafe DEA G and we’re at Ali a a i l
Y today was the start of um the healthy week halumi cream cheese baguette Bri your Bree isn’t healthy you know that don’t you what kind a healthy one I don’t think there is such thing I eat as much there’s no no such thing as low fat in
France if they’ve got a few I’ll get them and I’m not buying a bag that last us a few days then there some sausage you matched oh you’re just doing that cuz you know that’s my favorite bloody meal you’re doing that on purpose if they if if iing you twixes
Shows how much I love you I love you a lot cuz I bought you a bloody multi pack stop just no cuz I keep eating them they really don’t mess around did you see how late that barrier went down biggest bag of popcorn I have ever seen in my just drin
Chees I think how it’s going to work is that you just don’t tell me when you eat those they’re yours not mine so just eat one don’t say you want a Twix okay does that make sense I I got these two little I got these two little oh yeah they were only1 one
P127 cuz they didn’t have any halumi I got um the same as we had last night but kich line I got a baguette Brie I believe that is it’s no it’s got a it doesn’t sound very it’s like drained cheese I don’t know what that tastes like but we’ll
Find out the treats look there’s your treat show you I love you little big bag of potatoes that I don’t know how we’re going to eat but there you go and a lemon uh oh red onions are expensive they were expensive in New Zealand weren’t they they seem to be expensive
Here as well and that’s it that came to โฌ 2737 we soon continue the journey to St Valerie sus so join us in the next episode as we explore this historic town and find a forest park up for a change oh oh woah wo wo W wo
#camper #vanlife #france
We move from our wild camp in our Ford Custom AutoCamper in the Somme Valley and visit the town of Peronne where we visit the castle museum. We see a unique digital experience where the museum comes to life in front of our eyes – a taste of museums to come maybe. We then parkup at a park4night location that has been created and promoted by the local authorities.

I am with Jane on cupboards. I cannot abide a cupboard that is difficult to use. I simply donโt have the patience for it and feel compelled to sort it out. Meanwhile Carol serenely unpacks a jigsaw of items telling me I just need patience ๐๐. Some great laughs in this one. That museum looked ace ๐
The technology bringing those dead soldiers to life was amazing, so good to see tech being used in such a positive educational way. Diet starts tomorrow, coincidence that, so does ours๐
You are so right Stu, our local councils could learn such alot when it comes to park-ups from the Europeans. But we would certainly need to respect these places.
Another very enjoyable Sunday evening watch. Jane, you did make me laugh ๐
Best wishes, Si. ๐ ๐ธ
We loved the museum in particular the soldiers coming to life, as you can imagine it has been noted for a future trip ๐.
Goodness! What a brilliant use of AR! A brilliant way to bring a museum to life.
Baguette World sounds great, I'd visit that theme park ๐
Oops I've just realised that I've commented under my business account already. Can you guess which one I am….? Nx
Great video guys.
Loving Harry ๐
Haha interesting chat about the โsnacksโ the question is, did Jane keep succumb to a twix? ๐ Great video, Em & G ๐
We have a drawer just like that in Merlin ( or rather Graham says I have a drawer like that!) itโs a nightmare. Clever how they did the uniform effects. Somme area looked lovely. Saved by the rain! Councils do need to do something about parking in the UK. Did Jane eat a Twix?
Thank you both for the video lovely areas great comments they are setting aside parking for vans in Tenby and other areas of Pembroke as a trial . I hope it works out it will bring in the tourists, although itโs generally packed out in the summer well done good luck ๐๐๐๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐ฌ๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆข
We've been to Pissy ๐.
Loving the friendly bickering, ๐.
Hi Jane and Stew, sometimes museums with just exhibits can be a bit samey. But the soldiers coming to life was fantastic. Nice to see the thought you have for Stew when you go shopping, the twix and a wee treat. Then when you're slim and lovely and he's chubby and lovely you can go, na na na.๐๐๐. Great banter keep it up.
Just loving the playful banter between you two. Think I'd have been scared too Jane when them uniforms came to life!. Enjoying your journey.๐๐๐
That was such a lovely park up at the start and so interesting about the men from Blackburn and the different road names in each place. Another nice park up, really lovely. You two do make me laugh lol. Canal paths can go up hill I think otherwise you wouldn't have locks. Or am I wrong, I don't know ๐ That's like the weather in Kiddy today lol. Yep, the UK needs to learn, although the ones like Skipton, Settle and Ingleton are only a fiver, as is Boroughbridge which is great. Hate food shopping, especially having the old coeliac disease. How I wish I could eat a crusty baguette or a twix lol.
The live part of the museum looked awesome. Saved by the rain sounds good to me. Once again a great Vlog. Take care Gill
Try toasting your old baguettes cut in half longways on the ridgemonkey. I use the bagel setting on my toaster at home (in France) and it works perfectly;
Super U is definitely NOT the cheapest place to shop, especially in the country. And 0% on a dairy product means no fat.
Looking forward to seeing what you thought of saint Valerie Sur Somme next time. We enjoyed it there and found a nice restaurant on the north bank called the Canoterie. Great seafood platter ๐
Great video as always. Are you aware that you can use the Ford app on your phone to check if Harry is locked?
WOW, the soldiers that came to "life" …. what a powerful exhibit.
Great ๐
Wow! Those uniforms coming to life!
Can you imagine the councils in the UK encouraging people to overnight!!!!?
Leon's always having a senior moment too! ("Did I lock the van?")๐คฃ๐คฃ
Thanks for sharing

I am certainly enjoying all your adventures, including the scary dead soldiers coming to life….and all the laughs you always share..Lol
That was amazing how they came alive. Brilliant editing & narrative top marks. So looking forward to your adventures to come. Bit off a catch up on your blogs. Thanks for your channel as itโs the only way I will get to see these countries, the interesting places you visit. Cheers Lynne Victoria Australia ๐ฆ๐บ๐จ๐๐ป๐๐ฆ๐บ
That animated exhibited was pretty impressive. Encouraging to see how easy it is to find great park ups and how accommodating the local authorities and residents are. We really could learn from them but I doubt we will. The park up looked lovelyโฆshame about the rain ๐
The train zipping thru that plaza is a TER, a regular intercity train, it goes at a maximum cruising speed of 100mph for most. That's half the speed of the French high speed train, the TGV. It would be funny if you see a TGV running at full speed thru a residential area. ๐
