    This video was filmed on 13 April, the first day of Khmer New Year for 2024 in Siem Reap, Cambodia. We rode around looking for water fights and had so much fun. We refrigerated the water for our guns so that when we hit people, they got an extra little fright they weren’t expecting! We hope you enjoy this! No real chatting in this video, but we thought you’d like to hear the sounds from the streets as we ride around.

      Not much chatting in this ride and chat, but we wanted you to feel like you were there. It was a lot of fun, but not as busy as last year. We will go back tomorrow and see if there are more people around. A word to those people who are in our comments section trying to stir up the 'Thailand is better than Cambodia' or 'Songkran is from Thailand, Cambodia is just copying' sh*t, we will delete your comment as soon as we see it. So don't bother.

      I live in Kampot, this is my first Songkran, and it is everything i imagined it to be. It's so much fun. With laughter and smiles everywhere. We have the Durian Roundabout here, which they close for the celebrations. It is where so many gather. The big attraction is Fire Trucks spraying the crowd in a very safe manner, which just adds to the atmosphere. Love it, love love it. Happy New to you both. Cheers Rob 😊

      The videos do not do it justice. Great experience,You ( people) need to come one year too live it up for Khmer New Year !!! 🇰🇭🙏🎉 Was at Pub Street last night awesome!!! Didn't Even need a water gun.. hahaha ps. Did see Jeremy Riding by a restaurant off of chocolate road…

      It's unusual hot here today in Minnesota around 80F. It's an average around 50F in April. Spring has sprung and all the flowers will be in full blooms in a few weeks. Enjoy your wet Khmer New Year. Cheers 🍷

      I enjoy these rides around the city. I see new places that I haven't explored yet. I just saw that 7-11 the other day and haven't gone Into it yet to explore. I will soon though.

      Learned a little more about the origin of Khmer New Year or Sangkranta: Moha Sangkranta (Khmer: មហាសង្រ្កាន្ត, Môha Sângkrantâ) or Sangkranta, derived from Sanskrit saṅkrānti, is the name of the first day of the new year celebration. It is the end of the year and the beginning of a new one.

      This water splashing is more than a thousand years old tradition but back then the water was blessed by the monks and filled with flowers fragrance .

      It’s so unfortunate I couldn’t attend the water-free-for-all, I’m a cambodian living in rural queensland, australia and my tafe course finished it’s holiday on the 15th April. But I’m happy eapecially for aussies and other tourists to experience this sort of once a year thing. ❤🎉
