Purchaser: Grup Feroviar Roman (GFR), part of GRAMPET Group.

Supplier: DB Cargo UK.

Quantity: 25 Class 66 locomotives.

Purpose: Replacing aging LDE 2100 locomotives to improve operational efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.

Delivery Schedule: Starting late January 2026 (first unit 66014), with all 25 delivered by mid-2028.

Condition: Refurbished and repainted blue by DB Cargo UK prior to export.

About the Class 66 in Romania:

Role: The locomotives will serve as the backbone of GFR’s diesel freight fleet.

Capacity: They are known for high availability and superior power compared to the locomotives they are replacing.
